Imagine if skiing rotations were in radians

solid works?

Since Tanner enjoys weed, I'm just he'd say this is Rad Cos op was definitely baked as a pi

I am trying too hard right?

yeh you are... and I didn't understand what you were trying to say at all.

plus smoking weed is a sin

fack, *i'm sure he'd say xD hue, you know wassup haha

If the cosine of your angle of rotation is 1 you would land forward, and if cosine =-1 you land switch on jumps. Cosine of 0 you could land on a rail. If sine or Cosine = +/- square root of 2 over 2 (.707 or -.707) youd be locking in a zeach.

*Assuming that you start at 0 radians when going forward. Pi radians when going switch.

Well first of all this is a repost, and secondly congratulations on finally taking trig

There's a thread like this each year, which must coincide with the time they teach kids the unit circle and stuff in trig each year in school.

as someone who is going for a phd in nuclear engineering and also a skier, this post has made my day

1: is this actually true?

2: I have a bs in chemistry (no stranger to physics and math either) and I like the idea of studying nuclear chemistry and related things. Where do I go from here?

3: science.

What are some examples of ski tricks with 720 as opposed to 360 degree rotational symmetry, a la the dirac string trick?

Although it's likely never going to happen, I honestly wouldn't be against the switch to radians. With these future spins today it would make calling tricks a whole lot easier. What is a 1440 or a 1620 anyway? An 8&#960 or a 9&#960 is way easier to see/call/understand. I imagine we would drop the pi and call them just an 8 or a 9 spin.

*Odd number &#960 spins would be regular to switch or switch to regular. Even number &#960 spins would be either regular to regular or switch to switch.

^just another perk that I imagine would be very helpful

Also for rails it would NOT be 3/2&#960 it would be 1.5&#960 (450 would be 2.5&#960, and so on...). Just because in your math class it is beneficial to use improper fractions doesn't mean you have to use them out of your class haha.

Why do you think you're smart or cool for knowing what a radian is? It's the equivalent of saying "hurrrr we should call a 540 a 180x3 because I just learned my times tables and am so smart now!!"

Dude, are you upset that you didn't receive a solid education? Fuck off with your negativity.

This is right up my alley.

Spent 8 hours yesterday studying for my Differential Equations exam this morning. Wish me luck!

A friend and I were talking about how clocks need to rotate counterclockwise in order to be correct:

Why the fuck does every kid who can do high school math think they're cool because they know what radians are? Seriously annoying when everyone tries to form some sort of elitist cult around basic math skills

im just gonna go back to the beginning of this whole argument and point out the fact that nobody remotely implied that they thought they were "cool for knowing what radians are". youre probably the first person who saw this as some sort of bragging, what the fuck elitist cult did you see forming here? if anything, OP is actually presuming that everyone on here will already know what radians are. the gif was posted because I remember radians were confusing for me when i was learning em, and i know that theres a lot of people on here in that age bracket (i dont actually remember when i first learned radians) but thanks for your contribution to the thread i guess

$15 an hour and ski every day? I'd like to get that job.

LOL $15 an hour is a horrendous wage to make especially if your still hourly anywhere after college. Your telling me you want to be 50 years old making 35 grand a year (pre tax) just so you can "ski" every day aka maybe a few runs here and there to make ends meet. You can't support anyone on $30,000 a year.

This guys got it. No one says 360 or 180 or 720 or whatever anyways, just abbreviated to the first number. This is just a simpler form of that..

Will for sure start doing this lol And all you who are tossin shade about some math and how and it is need to effin chill
