Are you blind or something? Half the pictures are from China, Germany, and mostly Africa...and don't have anything to do with America. And if you didn't read, its pictures that changed the WORLD, not America.
 
...I'm surprised this one isn't in here. I couldn't find the original high quality version original...but you get the idea. It really gave perspective to the impact humans have on the planet...even though we think we are relatively minute in the individual sense.

quite a few of them are pictures of war which america unrightfully brought upon the rest of the world.. i must be the only person on here to find it ironic that america is the only country ever to use a weapon of mass destruction (that mushroom cloud for you less smart kids) yet we use the idea that there are WODs somewhere in the mid east or n korea it as an excuse to attack innocent countries around the world.. and this is all perpetrated by the ignorance of people like you..
 
Sure some of those pics like the Vietnam one, the Atomic bomb, and the Gulf war one are ones that make people angry. But you can't compare the use of the A-bomb in 1945 to todays circumstances. If it wouldn't have been used who knows how much longer ww2 would have continued.

Vietnam was a big fuck up I agree but they didn't start that conflict and the Gulf war(s) are also a big mess. Anyways I don't think its right of you to just call everyone ignorant just because they aren't hating on America for what they did and didn't do. Its a thread on images that changed the world

your right i regreted that the second afteri posted.. but still the vietnam war was started because america's head of military leaked a false report to the president stating that they hda been attacked by a vietnamese boat while sitting in foregin waters.. when really that never happened, video recordings of phone conversations between robert macnamara and lyndon johnson asre avilable to the public, just no on e s4eems to notice this insane fact. watch the fog of war.,. v. v. cray world, i dont hate america.. i jnust hate how hypocritical americans are. also v. interesting that germany was in the worst economic decline ever after WW1 but somehow got money and hitler gained power? all of these funds were gained via the bank of international settlements which was, creepily, almost entirely funded by american investors in germany.

You know what's even more ironic? Most of the people that shit on America don't actually know anything other than what their media tells them. A lot have never been here and judge a whole country based on the entirity of it's president and maybe two people they've met.

I'm not saying there isn't a lot of dumbasses, but the people in Europe, Australia, and even Canada can be just as ignorant as Americans when it coems to terms of other people's way of life.
 
im from america, have lived in multiple places in this country and others, i dislike my country because of the destruction it has brought upon the rest of the world.. all of you are missing the point which is this.. half of those pictures are of people being killed in wars that though may not be the fault of the us government are on the hands based on their involvement. those pictures of black people being killed? oh yeah thats right ew were one of the last countries in the world to abolish slavery because greedy slave owners couldn't handle the idea of paying black people. the atomic bomb is the only weapon of mass destruction that has ever been used upon another country in a time of war and it was done by americans.. this isn't even rambling..!! FIRST OF ALL, your example of weapons of mass destruction is just plain out WEAK. Maybe you didn't realize, but the world of 1946 was a LITTLE different than 2005. To equate the use of a weapon of mass destruction against a country fully willing to invade and annihilate the US to a terrorist act is absurd. IT WAS WORLD WAR. We used the bomb to stop the inevitable death of potentially millions of innocent people, both Americans and others around the world.

Fast forward to the 2000's. Bush inaccurately accuses Iraq of having WMD for shit reasons falsely linked to 9/11. IF THEY DID EXIST, the scenario is a little different than that in 1946. An attack these days would be essentially unprovoked....and catastrophic in these times. You need to stop talking about the "irony" of situations that happened during a world war and what is happening now.

no.. the use of a weapon suchg as the a bomb on japanese army would hav been justified, american was using high flying fighter bombs at low flying levels on civilian communities, and that is terrorism.. despite the fact that we were at war.

And slavery still exists today in many corners of the world. Compared to European countries, yes we were one of the last to abolish, but to Africa, South America, and Asia...we weren't.

At the time of Bush's re-relection, not many people were giving us shit about him, but about 6 months after the re-relection the whole world starts hating America. The picture of the man falling from the WTC was a restaurant worker from one of the top floors, look up "the falling man" on wikipedia. I can't imagine having to make a decision like he did.

And as for the "unjustified" atomic bombing of Japan, do you know how many millions of people, both American, and Japanese would have died in a land invasion? If any of you have relatives who fought in the pacific in World War II, and survived, if it were for the atomic bombs, odds are they wouldn't be here right now. They probably would have died on some beach, or town in Japan.

And yes, the US did bomb civilians with high explosive bombs, we even dropped incendiary bombs on them. Ever heard of total war? This isn't the revolutionary war, we don't march our troops out in straight lines to be mowed down anymore. You destroy the morale of civilians by killing other civilians, and then the remaining people get afraid, and stop supporting a war.

And yes, George Bush is a dictator...except wait, he's going to be out of power in 2008, and not due to a coup. Because of an election. You want to talk about dictators, try finding one who didn't get voted into power, could have potentially been voted out of power, and will definitely be out of power within 8 years.

My personal favorite picture that changed the world is the Earthrise taken from Apollo 8. Weird to think that in that picture, you are kind of seeing every person alive, on that side of the World, in 1968. And 6 months later, we'd be landing on the moon.
 
No the atomic bomb didn't end world war 2. The Japenese fear of Russian invasion was.
