i can barely look at some of those pictures. the one of the two men being hung, and the one of the falling man from the 911 terrorist attack. holy shit. those are amazing pictures
I was around on 9/11 in manhattan. My dad was also at work in FDNY ladder 34 at the time, my uncle was a telephone repair guy there that day, my other uncle was working on the elevator motors, and my sister was working in an office for a TV producer. I was on the roof of my apt building watering the plants and went over. Every one of the dudes that jumped I was trying to tell if it was one of my folks. Somehow not one of them was even injured.
I remember the FDNY chaplain was reading last rites to some poor jumper when another jumper landed on his head and killed him. Crazy stuff. It was a good day to be a survivalist, thats for sure.
the photographer who took that picture was part of a group of photo journalists capturing what was going on in south africa. almost all the pictures they had taken were of people getting shot, stabbed, burned. people lying dead on the street. children who were far too sickly to even be saved.
they couldnt do anything for these people except take pictures to show the world what was going on. and those pictures did get peoples attention and they raised millions of dollars for world hunger
i find these photos moving yet intriguing at the same time the first one especially will always stick in my mind and the one of the girl running from the fire its the facial expirations that stay with you
How can you even begin to materialize what that photographer was thinking without actually being in his head at that moment? Those photographers took pictures of the worst human atrocities known to man, mutilations, rape, war, death, starvation etc. Many of the people who have witnessed these things have never been quite the same.
i would like to look at these pictures, but i am somewhat squeamish and would not like to look at some one(from what it sounds) being eatin by a vulture or dead, wich suks because everyone is saying how moving these pictures are.
