IMAC vs PC

Jesus Christ, a bit touchy now, that wasn't an insult and you're just being anal retentive, if I wanted to insult you I would have done a lot worse.

I'm surprised they even have American support staff, all of these companies are outsourcing to India now.

macs can own pcs, if you need a reason why, you obviously have never used a mac. just try one, you'll see.

JD, don't bother with the LG. I had a LG burner for a few months, never once burned anything correctly. I said fuck it and got a nice NEC dvd burner for $60.

As far as this whole MAC vs. PC argument... yes, macs are nice. But as Andy mentioned, I'm not about to pay fucking $3000 for the G5. Hell, I paid $1300 for parts that I put together into something that is probably faster then the G5.

I do a limited amount of gaming, so the PC is better in that respects, hands down. but ya, if I had a bunch of money to waste, 'd probably get a G5 for editing. ha, that'll be the day.

for the record, I've had this computer for around 6 months, and it's crashed once. frozen... maybe 10 times. that's pretty good for ANY computer.

Also, I hate the one mouse button.

Not touchy; as I say, I just found it interesting... I personally would have waited a few posts before giving clear evidence of my own hypocrisy, since it's less obvious, and being obvious isn't any fun. Just me, though. And yes, they are all going India's way... Dell support is now useless. They have no clue what they're talking about anymore. I find it humorous that they spend more time and money on training their employees how to sound like Americans and use American slang in phonme conversation than they do on actual technology training. Humorous and quite sad.

Thing is, I need an external one... and the LG is 135$ Canadian. Cheapest firewire I can find is 215, and it's a Plextor. There is a Pacific Digital burner for 135 (8x/8x), but it's slower than the LG, which is 12x/8x. I guess if it's more reliable, though... know anything about them?

have a plextor at home... 3 or 4 years now, still burns well.

just buy a PC.

hojnestly, Macs are pretty awsome, but you will, most cirtinally get more band for your buck getting a pc here or build one yourself.

conclusion: if you have decent money to spare, get a mac, if not get a pc.

the only reason to get a 2 button mouse is if you dont liek waiting for the menue to come up when you click and hold with a one button mouse. I really dont, and i thin that it also a burdon to hold down ctrl and click (also right click on a mac) and scroll is aloways nice. mac is such a fucking rip off for their wireless mouse though. it is still one button and the fucker is $50.

wow this is quite a heated debate. basically all I have to say is that Macs are great for the standard user who just wants to surf the internet and read email and etc. but if you have any desire to accomplish anything beyond 'standard' use, I would recommend a PC. And if you want a Mac but can't afford one, just build an x86 system and drop some BSD w/ Gnome action on it and you can pretty much customize it to your liking... I don't think that either is 'better' than the other, they are just used for different purposes by different people.
