all i have to say is my dynastars fell apart in uder a month, sweet maybe you guys at dynastar should realize your edges fucking blow and change that.. shops put a price of 600 retail for a ski that cant take rails at all.

maybe you could "progress" the industry with a ski that lasts more than a couple weeks on rails

Well then do we get into the argument concerning the outsourcing of ski production to places like China in order to make a profit? And then do we consider where that profit goes, i.e. back into redevelopment?

And at what point do we redefine the "small" companies into "medium" and then eventually "large" corporations?

Smaller companies are more focused on making that profit margin than the larger companies because they need that income for survival. Larger companies have income from various markets, i.e. the freeride, all mtn, race specific skis while niche companies only have their "newschool" market. The larger companies do have the ability to market themselves in the form of event sponsorship.

What I'm getting at is that the small company who takes that risk in investing its capitol in event sponsorship and such has more to risk than the larger companies. But when they eventually become larger than what they already are, do they lose their "core" reputation? And then in that regards, why do we not look back to larger companies historys? Weren't they founded on the same principles?

after all, no matter what, it's about progression.

just my thoughts, take them as you will.

I'll never think of Dynastar the same way after working for their "newschool" program. They tried to capitalize on every grommet's desire to claim they are "sponsored." Basically, they had us give kids cards that said "team rider." We made them think they were sponsored if they bought left over stock from the year before at a discount. You might think this was just clever, and not necessary crooked. But what was crooked was the way they went behind the shops that sold their product. Basically, they were selling skis to these shops, while simultaneously undercutting their prices by sending out guys to sell old stock in the same area. They had to pretty much pull the plug when the shops found out--kids were taking the skis in to get mounted and saying "this dynastar guy at the local mountain is sponsoring me; i get a deal on the skis." The whole time the program was going we had to keep it on the down low. At first there was a website but then they had to pull it when it was found out. I believe Josh Novotny played a role in that program. I remember seeing his name on some paper work or one of the e-mails. The name stuck out because I remembered his part in the credits of second generation.

I also felt bad selling skis for them because I new that the edges would blow out in a few months if you skied rails at all.

i do believe that the founders of dynastar were looking to make money. lets face it, society is bunch of money grubbing whores. yes, they prolly started dynastar to be able to make their life work all about skiing, an i'm sure that when they started, they wanted to change the industry. but the bottom line is that they were looking to make that hard cold cash. people don't start companies to fail, they don't start companies to lose money. they start them to make money and hopefully in the process add their own two cents to the industry. look at companies like armada. i'm positive tanner, JP, JF, and all the other guys started that company to bring change to this industry. but the fact is that they have to answer to higher powers, their investors. and in all honesty, i think those investors have ONE goal in mind, to make a shitload of cash.

 
^if they cared primarily about money, they would start a biz outside of skiing that was a proven money-maker, like a MC D's franchise in the city. It's about the lifestyle at the same time. Sounds like that's why dynastar is right by Cham and why predator is right by squaw.
