Again, something that happened in the past should in no way have to correlate in to the contemporary state of the world.

All you who are saying (may I add, you are the ones who sound scared) that criminals, pyschopaths would not go the way of legality when acquiring weapons... AGAIN, stop manufacture of weapons, cripple the arms industry and we could really change the world.

I despise people who treat a constitution like some sort of undeniable truth. I wonder how different the world would be and what kind of person you would be if the right to bear arms wasn't in that piece of paper.

so youre telling me that if you came to rob my house and i squirted you and you were all wet you'd still want to rob my house? i think not, you'd want to go home and change. check and mate

I think you should look back over the past 235 years, and examine the freedoms people enjoyed in countries where the constitution has changed, and in countries where the constitution has not been scraped and rewritten. While the United States Constitution is a dynamic and evolving document, it does not change opinion every four years. It can be read, and understood, it is not subject to using a guise to hide its intent, in the style that many dictators have used to bring about their power. Many Americans, including myself, take comfort in that security of freedom.

As for what kind of person I would be, well I would probably be a British subject for starters, and who knows where the world would be today had 13 colonies not decided that enough was enough, and showed the world that people were meant to control their government, not the other way around.

My handgun does not infringe upon your liberties, unless you allow your fear of being assaulted by someone with a gun to overcome your love of liberty. There are two ways people handle this choice. Some face it squarely in the eye, and go out ready to face it, others chose to enact laws and restrictions so that they may hide behind an illusion of security.

I have yet to know of anyone who made it out of this world alive, and I don't plan on it. That said I'm not planing on being on my knees when I go either. (with apologies to TR)

So you think if you came to rob my house, and I shot you and you were all bleeding with a GSW to the chest, you'd still want to rob my house? I think not, you'd want your last rites.

Maybe despise was too strong of a word.

Do as you feel you must, if I can't change your mind then it doesn't matter. Sorry for flooding the thread.

pretty spot on. i have no clue how to get a M16 over this easy "illegal channels" the other guys mentioned and i am pretty sure its pretty much impossible to get such a weapon in western europe.

but when weapon laws are looser, more weapons are on the market thus more weapons are sold illegally and the society as a whole suffers.

its my opinion, you have yours, no problem.

What is it about the M16 that you find so scary? The black paint? I doubt you would see many Colt ARs in europe with easier access to the glory that is HK, Fal, and Styer.

Okay, what is this scary/scared thing?

Both Feihlination and myself have been in the army, we know our way around assault rifles. I'm also quite accurate with a handgun and a shottie as well.

This is not about being scared, like I said before, it is you who sounds scared with this weird protection scenario hulabaloo.

the main reason i joined the nra was for free swag.

hunting guns is a whole new can of worms.. it is scary. when you go to the gun store and your talk to some freaking crazy dudes... and you know all they do is target practice and carve crosses into the bullet heads.

what a honor to be in that post... [short pause looking to my right side with the chin a little upward tilted and right hand on heart]

seriously, thats what it is. saying "we" are scared is obviously only half the story, when the other guys want to protect themselves against all those osamas, aliens, maybe now even obamas and their healthcares and gorillas.

america has so many positive connotations. pretty much the whole world associates (among tons of other traits) freedom with the usa, but some of you guys seem to narrow freedom down to owning guns and the ability to shoot anybody on your property.
