'I'm the decider'' - Bush

Ok ok, mayby not meaningless, but if you get your panties in a bunch about everything the media hypes up(ie,bird flu,the whole tom delay thing,) you are one lost soul.

You have to THINK when you read this stuff instead of being spoon fed everything by the media.

Plus there have been retired generals that have defended Rumsfeld in light of the accusations of the 6 generals.

Its war time, people are going to disagree. it doesnt mean the guy should lose his job. Lets think.

Six generals means alot more than you think. When was the last time a retired general spoke out against leadership? I can't even find evidence of that, and if you can, then bring it up. Generals that are currently serving arent allowed to say anything about the leadership because that is agains their rules. Thats why they aren't speaking (not that i know for a fact that they would). So six generals may be a small number, but compared to before, its huge.

i didn't really understand that, because the majorite of people are right wing, thats why we have a republican president right now. Plus, you made no sense.

Why don't people understand sarcasm? It's a little telling if you take someone's so obviously intentionally stupid statement so seriously...

i really dont think bush is doing that bad, he had to handle the biggest terrorist attack on the u.s. ever, im pretty sure everything would be pretty fucked up with any president after that. then with the war, people bitch about stuff like innocent civillians dying, like it can be prevented, name one war where that doesnt happen. war is fucked up and fucked up stuff happens, and people somehow find a way to blame it all on bush. the other thing is that people think bush can do anything he wants, he cant just go to war cause he wants to, he has to have a very very good reason, and there are many other people along with him that know a shit load more than any of us do that are making the decisions. and for that reason i bet that with kerry we would have still gone to war and everything would be all fucked up just like it is now, i think it was kerry that agreed with what bush was doing up until he wanted to go for president, and im pretty sure he agreed that we needed to go to war.

and im not all hardcore into my country, i really dont car much, canada kicks the U.S's ass. i just hate people talikng shit about bush because its the cool thing to do. for example in my history class we got into like a 30 minuite discussion about bush, and like 22 out of 26 people said they hated bush, and out of them 2 people actually had a reason, the rest just said stuff like "because he is stupid" or some crap like that, while everyone who liked bush had good reasons for it and knew what they were talking about.

Damn that is the most stupid thing I've ever heard. He is a follower coz he stand for things as like most people do. That would make him just as much as a follower as you do moron. You also follow the president... U are weird and stupid. U are even more a follower coz u walk after the presidents ass and are blind for whats going on.

U guys have the most powerfull army and still u cant even win a war... And look at ur economy man I feel sorry for you coz its getting fucked. And dont see I am an anti american coz im not i guess im pro american. Its a great country but ur presidents fucks up the whole american dream!!!

In my mind, Bush handled 911 perfect. He united the country perfectly. And entering Afganista was justified. I really jsut dont agree with the invasion of Iraq. Had he gotten the UN Approval fine, but he jumped the gun. Like really would waiting a couple weeks have done any harm? And the UN had went into Iraq and found nothing. And he has yet to give any evidence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.

Bush is impossing American values on an area of the world that is not ready for it yet. He uses words such as freedom and democracy. But Iraq is not ready for it. I think the US needs to get out and let things take work them selvesout. Sadly things dont lookbright for Iraq. Chances are they will go through a civil war, there Shiads(sp?), Kurds and another group Im far too tired to remember their name. Anyways they hate each other and violence is almost give in. Personally I think it might do Iraq well to serprate into 3 seperate nations to avoid conflict for power. But there still is the chance of war between the two. This situation remindes me far too much of previous moments in our history and I hope wehave leanrt enough from them to make the right choices.

Yet North Korea has said they have a nuclear weapons program and a powerfull army. And they are the dreaded "commies".

Why hasnt the US invade them?

Well unlike Iraq N.Korea could actually stand a chance. And theres no economic advantage to invading north Korea. They live in poverty and have very few natural resources, they are an industrial country .

I think Bush has his reasons for invading Iraq, the world is changing, he realizes he has to make a strong move in order to keep US on top for when China wakes up.

I realize that there is the huge I hate bush band wagon. And not a huge fan of the man however I'd much rather the US be the world super pwoer then North Korea.

The thing that scares me about it is that the President basically overules all. And perhaps giving a panel or senate more power might be benifical. I think most importantly informing and educating the people so they can make the choice for themselves.

can we please stop having these political argument threads? all it does is get more people on NS pissed off and it breaks down the community. i am a far right conservative, so i don't agree with you, but there is no point in constantly arguing on the internet about these things, and especially on NS.

yay! people on NS can spell!

besides that, bush isnt "the decider" isnt there some system he has to go through to do anything? something about checks and balances? besides, he has made the worst decitions about foreign policy (aka, blow them up) since vietnam, which was just about the same thing, the US being where they shouldn't and loosing thousands of soilders for no reason.

Ofcourse we dont want NK to have the power in the world.

But u see Bush reacted good after 911?? It took months for an invasion in afganistan. If he was smart he invated it the next week. And yes there were already plans for such things. SO no he didnt do good. I still agree with both invasions but how they invated them damn that makes me pist. I dont care that there are no nuclear wapons or he wants oil. But damn why does he want to do everything alone! He could get help from way more countries. And why doesnt he ask the UN for help or give Iraq more and more power to take over. But no instead he wants to do everything alone. The most stupid thing he could do. And for the oil... yeh ofcourse u can get back ur money u put in the war....

First of all, it's well-known that Bush didn't give a shit about "WMDs" in Iraq, he straight-up lied to the American public and he had his cabinet lie as well, to have a government where the leaders can look you straight in the eye and lie about something as huge as to bring about a war where your children will die is not a government I think is just, or right, we can do so much better. Money, Oil and taking out a dude that his dad couldn't, you know, kind of a clean up that daddy bush couldn't finish is what I think some of his reasons were. Bush went to Iraq alone, too, because of money and he wanted the war run exactly as he (or his buddies, like Daddy, Cheney and Rumsfeld to name just a few) wanted.

We can't go to N. Korea because China's got their back. Look in your history books like 55 years ago to learn more... And "when China wakes up" is just a stunning comment to me. They aren't a country that finds big business in war, they are just a big business country. They woke the fuck up big time about 15 years ago when they changed their economic system to a capitalistic type, while keeping their government largely communist. China doesn't go to war to prove themselves, even though they got thousands of nukes and an army that could topple us in a large-scale war. The US is run as a Fear-State since 9/11 and its hard for most people to think worldy when the news is telling you all about terrorists everywhere and stereotypes run rampant. China has woken up, just as the US, the "sleeping giant" woke up after WWII, but China didn't have to get bombed to become a superpower.

Now this is solely personal opinion, but I don't think at all that Bush invaded Iraq to keep the US on top. I think he did it for personal gain and control. If he wasn't at war, what do you think the people would find out? The truth of his sheistyness, people wouldn't have a war to be concerned about, they would be concerned about his domestic actions. He needs the war to stay as president, eventhough he's handling it poorly.

And come on, North Korea will not be "The World Superpower." They can't compete economically with the US, or China, or most of Europe. Hell, they can't compete with California. They have very little resources, and I honestly don't see a day when they will control the world's economies the way the current superpowers do.

hmm...sounds like i have some work to do.

thank you jd and erik for your POV. you present it so well with perfect rhetoric.

I don't get it. If bush canned donald then he could blame him for all that went bad in Iraq, divert attention, and invade the next country. Iran?

no i dont think N. Korea would be the superpower, I simply randomly picked a country that I would fearing leading the world. Because Idont think China will be that bad.

Abraham Lincoln had I cant tell you how many generals disagree with him until he found the right one(i forget his name) that would actually fight the south.

Same with FDR and the list goes on, its a fact in war time people are going to disagree.

It doesnt mean he should lose his job.

Lincoln had generals that didn't want to fallow his stratagies ad now that i think of it only one( george mcclellan) wouldn't fallow lincolns orders so lincoln fired him never, have i heard, of 6 gen. calling out the president for his wrong doings and miss haps and nae=me a gen that had beef wit FDR. i know that Mccarthur had beef with truman but thats because the pres didn't wan't an all out nuclear war on china so the situation is a lil dif

^^dude, once again, are we supposed to have an entire nation vote on anything? I mean you vote in the president to make the decisions. Thats how it works. And to the guy that quoted me up there. I am really a follower, and you obviously know me,
