Im Stumped...

But I have some time to pick my skis this year, and i need help. Ill start out with the basics. I am 5'11" around 180 lbs. I Ski about half park, half everything else. I already have a pair of seths, so i am looking for a ski to compliment them mostly for park. After skiing on the seths in the park all year, i wasn't progressing much, then one day i demoed a pair of foils from the shop I work at and doubled my bag of tricks in one day. This lead me to the realization I should probably get some park skis. I love the foils for their Fun factor, their snappyness and their ease of spin.

Most of this is probably due to the fact that my shop carried the 166. Being 5'11" this feels like cheating. and im worried it wouldnt be enough length for anything out of the bumps. I like the feel of the salomons, and i think ill stick with the company. Would the foil most likely fit me the best, or should I look into their other skis? Budget isnt really an issue since i get proforms... Im just looking for a good fit that will help me progress like that one day last season.

I know this is sorta a rough question, and arbitrary at that... but please try to help, and i can help you along if you need it. I ski in CO so my all mountain ski needs to be good in bumps, trees, crud, pow, etc...

Thanks

~Nate

I dunno man, ive skied the PE, and it doesnt really fit my style, a little to heavy for my taste, lets face it, i weigh enough on my own.

Never tried the fujy tho...

The Dumont would really fit in great, like a size 176 or bigger, the core is all wood, makes it really responsive on groomers an such.

If you like the foils get them in a longer length. I mean there are soooo many great park skis out there if you have a chance to demo more I'd do that first.

seeing as how you work in a shop, you should probably know what ski

would suit you best if you're recommending skis to other customers,

but...

i would go with the the thruster if you are dead set on salomon. its a little narrower than the foil so it will work better in the bumps, and i find them a lot livelier than the foil in and out of the park. however, for the same price, you could get better skis. a pair of TMs would fit the criteria you are looking for. they're way snappier than anything from salomon, and ski much better all mountain as well. they keep their pop a lot longer too. you also might like the k2 silencer. its a bit stiffer than the TM and foil, which could work well since you're not a small guy, and they kill it all mountain as well, especially in the bumps. rossi ghettos are similar dimension-wise to the foils, and also ski better all mountain while still being poppy in the park.

to an extent yeah, i mean if you're splitting hairs like seths vs brigade or something of that sort. thats how i was with silencers vs. fujatives last year, just cause i wasnt really sure of what i wanted out of the ski i guess. oh well.

Well the Armada AR6 and the Line Chronic both got the best reviews in POWDER Magazine. I have never been on either ski though.

plus powder gear guide would be the last place to look for advice on park skis. but yeah, these are both good.

check out the AR6 in the 176 (short) or 181 for a half park/all mountain ski, or the T Hall same sizes for a little more park
