can anyone explain to me why this site is so conservative, in a rational and non-confrontational manor. i dont want to get little girl reactions, i want people to defend their opinions with facts and reason, not just by saying that liberals are gay, fags, commies, ect...

because as it seems to me, skiiers should be pretty liberal, i mean we do live to ski, and for skiing to live we need to protect the environment, and protecting the environmet is not the first priority of conservatives.

except for a small number, this site is made up of nothing but immature 15 year old kids. sure, i may argue a bit just like everyone else does because they are bored/riled up about something, but damn.. if you come on this website purely to discuss political views and/or personal beliefs, then my friend you are completely lost. this site is nowhere near what you should be looking for. NS, especially Non-Ski Gabber, is for boredom only.. you should not be looking for insight here.

and i tried to do what you said and keep it mature, just toned down a bit. haha. no bullshit here, just trying to let you know.

hey ive been on here for just under 3 years, only for the skiing, and i just saw a trend, and i agree that 90% of the people on here are 15 year old kids, who have no idea what they're talking about. i just dont understand why when ever some one one here expresses a liberal view, they get shit from like 100 angry rednecks who either dont ski or dont know what their talking about
 
Ok automatically associating "rednecks" and "conservatives" is pretty ignorant, very 15 year oldish if you will. Ahem, people have their opinions whether they found it in the bargain bin at Wal-mart or picked it up at the dinner table. Let me people believe in what they choose to believe in. Just because you hold a certain opinion doesn't mean it's the correct one. Stop trying to push your agendas on other people, it's a very liberal thing to do.

I've found that most of the site is fairly liberal. In the end it doesn't matter, though, because 90% percent of members, regardless of political leaning, can't articulate a well-reasoned argument anyway. Don't worry about it too much.

I will take a stab at this one...for the most part alot of skiers come from wealthy upbringings....and most wealthy people are conservative...liberalism is strongly linked with socialism...which in the end boils down to redistribution of wealth....why would the wealthy want to give up thier hard earned money to those that don't deserve it? Life always has been about the haves vs. the have nots just watch how the modern Democrats attack the Republicans for being rich....well fuck them for making a shit loan of money...give me a break...jealousy is at the root of most peoples hatred/angst towards others...not to mention...I like my right to own a gun and the Demis/Liberals are a threat to that right
 
Yeah, it makes alot of since actually. Conservitives like guns...Rednecks like guns. Conservatives believe in doin the rutin tootin life style as do the Rednecks. But here is the real question, why do you all associate yourself with a group? Yeah techniquely if you want to get psy on me sure it's part of our needs as humans. But in general wouldn't it be alot better if we treated each other all as individuals and not groups. This would end alot of contreversy that really ends up no where at all. Guns are here to stay whether someone wants them or doesn't, same with gay marriages and drugs like marijuana. The moral of the story is slap hands and get along...some like this some like that...that's why it is fun to meet new people, you'll do and experience new things. Thats what lifes about...Experience.

The funny thing is that before I signed up, the membership was largely liberal and you'd get a balance in any political thread, maybe leaning a little toward the liberal side, but generally pretty good discussions between both sides.

As the NSG has become progressively more retarded, it's also become more conservative.

That's not meant to imply anything. It is kind of funny though.
 
Yes spin I was being sarcastic, I used to argue with people on this website about political issues and it got very frusterating, I've since learned you're better off keeping things shallow and just exchanging witless banter.

i'm so fed up of people complaining about this sorta shit. we got a sight here that unites the freeskiing community, so what more could you ask for? sure people joke around and there are going to be some dorks that just want to say lame shit, but bottom line is, we all ski, we all love it, and we got SOMETHING. it beats the hell out of NOT having a ski forum at all. come on man, the good outweighs the bad without question.
 
that owuld be an interestign take on thing..in the ned that has nothing to do with skiing..skiing is about being an individual and having fun, you cannot simply assume that becuase someone is a member of this site they are rich, or conservative, it simply means they ski and are interested in communicating with other skiers.
 
while we are saying what pisses us off, people that stereotype 15 year old kids god damnit. we arent all the same, yeah some are immature faggots who dont know what they are talking about, but others, hint hint, have been in the gifted program since first grade and get better scores on the psat's that most 11th graders.

on another note, liberals do think with thier heart, and conservative's use thier head, thats pretty well known. heres an example, protecting the enviroment beyond reason and devoting your life to saving animals, most of those people happen to be liberal, and oh boy, those tasks are from the heart, damn what a coincidence!
 
i completely agree with you on the first part. i dont mean to sound conceited but i'm 15 and i'm positive that i'm more mature and informed than most of the older people stereotyping 15 year olds.

the second paragraph i think is wrong but i dont really feel like arguing about it. i'm just going to say that i think it's stupid that everyone believes that people can only be either a liberal or conservative. i know some values naturally go together, but it's impossible that every human being believes solely in one group of values or the opposite.
 
^^^Well said, Socialisms fucked up...redistribution of wealth is bullshit, you keep what you earn and you earn what you keep...its simple, the only reason people are poor in this world is because they're not willing to work their way out of it, hence its THEIR own fault, not ours, hence we shouldn't have to compensate them...

Capitalism is the way, work for yourself and your family, no one else...and if people think I'm being selfish, damn straight i am because i care about myself and my family more than some poor kids down the street...
 
liberals= social justice usually more open minded to different cultures, dont usually run gabot by the bible.

Moderate=in the middle

Conservative= businesses should be run with very little govt intervention less taxes and whatnot.

Retard=George Bush and 90% of the 13 year olds on this site who listen to what there rich mommy and daddy tell them and are too immature to form opinions on there own,
 
now dont get me wrong i have nothing against conservatives as long as they can keep there church and state seperate. i do have a problem with parents who supress there kid until the day they turn 18 by shoving there views on religion, sexuality and ethnicity down there throats.
 
Honestly to associate yourself with one political party has never been my thing. To me that just seems like "this is my crew if htey fuck up oo well ill back them still na dtry to cover for them. FUCK that i base my decision issue by issue.

Sometimes i go conservative sumtimes liberal! I just dont like picking sides i feel like a tool!

you cant talk politics without getting heated, but yes i like to consider myself socially liberal while economically conservative, it all depends on the issue.
 
Actually, it's a bad idea. Because its unachievable at a level of government and heavily flawed at an economic level. Communism is contradictory to human nature...but thats for another thread.

Anyway, back on topic. If you don't like it leave, or take some initiative to change things. Nothing is stopping you. This is a website, not a secret society. Stop being a drama queen. No one really cares if you leave or not. I'd take your posts with a grain of salt because you make bad generalizations...you need to do the same with everybody else.
