I'm sick of this

I'm so sick of how people say "should I do this to my skis" or "I can do a 720 in the park which makes me such a good skier."

Good skiers can do all of the mountain, including the steep stuff. If you can only ski park, you're NOT A GOOD SKIER. Park rats, get that through your head. Good skiers also know how to use the tuning of their skis to their advantage or how to use the width of their skis. They should also know what they are buying, because you don't buy a ski "just because they are sweet T-halls and theyre supposed to be the shit." Demo your skis before you buy, and know how to take good care of them.

Don't talk shit about what you don't know either.

This is all I can really think of now.

thank you sir. park rats who dont understand how to make a ski carve and sit over their tails hate on racing, but theyre damn sure better skiiers than the park kid. if you can flip around on a trampoline, you can do shit off jumps. but it takes some serious skill to ski a super steep icy pitch with 6 inch deep rutts at 50 mph. and mogul skiiers, regardless of my detest of the activity itself, deserve equal respect. not that i dont respect the people who can kill it off jumps n rails in the park, but ill respect em a lot more if they can put down some super agressive carves on the spectacular blue ice we call trails here on the east coast, not just sit back and straightline until they get to the park.

oh and don't call people "gearheads" unless they suck at skiing. I think Bhill may have been a gearhead.

Iggy and vicious are not gearheads cuz they know their shit.

Well I guess it's pretty unfortunate that we're all not omnipotent like you. This just in: If you ask for advice, you're not a good skier.

If freetranslator to serve me correct, chill means fun, and you are to complaning is not fun or chill, but of the opposite.

how many "super smooth 3" videos are there littering the media section? or "sick rail"? plenty of people on this site are shooting for efame with utter abandon. not to mention the overwhelming number of useless "how does this look on me?" or "how should i wear my goggles?" or "fujatives vs invaders" posts that frequent these pages. the man's point is extremely valid, and this is what upsets me about a lot of the fourteen year old bandana-under-new-era-hat wearing ninthward-loving skiers that have been plaguing the sport as of late.

you have to put conditions on what you say. where i live on the east coast there are no gnarly steeps and the only thing worth doing is park, besides the occasional groomer. being a park rat is the only respectable thing here.

Well it's a good thing Royale can do "steezed out BC cork 5s"! And he can go really fast down icy rutted-out slopes, too! DAAAAMn I hope he will give me his number!

Alright, no offense dude, but you need to get off your high horse and respect the fact that everyone has their faults.

you said:

Good skiers can do all of the mountain, including the steep stuff. If you can only ski park, you're NOT A GOOD SKIER.

I Say: Good skiers are the ones having the most fun. Why the fuck should you care whether or not they can make turns worth a rats ass? Likewise, i don't think racers are shittty skiers because they can't do a cork 9. Let people do what they want and enjoy themselves. You seem awfully concerned about being a "good skier" which just seems to me like you're jealous of other people who are taking themselves less seriously and probably having alot more fun.

Secondly, about people boasting about themselves on the forum, are you forgetting that you just made a thread because you got a bootdryer from a friends dad, and now you can prodeal some things? I was stoked for you that you were so pumped and excited, but now your basically saying that being excited about accomplishments isn't alright for anyone but you?

Sorry, but you needed a bit of a reality check. You don't get to dictate what makes people "good skiers," and you sure as fuck don't get to bitch people out for a little bit of bragging.

i learned how to do super steep shit with ruts in it and all that stuff when i was 10. it is definetly much eisier than park.

wanna know what I'm sick of? People like you making threads where all they do is complain about how people are acting and what people are saying. stop bitching every time someone says something that pisses you off, deal with it

I'm having a ton of fun learning how to do park well.

Yessir I bragged about my bootdryer sponsor. I didn't call anyone out for bragging, yet people called me out. I support people who get sponsored. They deserve it most of the time for all their hard work. On this site, it's mostly in the park.

I wanted to to give other people a reality check.

A lot of racers are good skiers because they can ski everything from groomed to powder and all inbetween. What they can do in the air doesnt matter, if they can ski park OK or even just pull a 360, theyre a good skier if they can do the other stuff.

That's my opinion and I'm trying to back it up.

i consider my self a park rat, and well rounded skier. you have to remember that my local mountain is not vail or killington. its a small mountain in massachusetts. so we dont have any chutes or deep pow here. i had a choice to race, ski park, or swich to snowboarding. i decided to ski park because i found it fun. my theory is that people that hate on park rats are just people that cant ski park.

o yeah and i know how to ski, my mountain pays me to teach people how to.

that's good man. Seriously no joke.

I have to admit that some people don't get the chance to ski anything else than not steep runs in the EC.

Sorry for those people, it's heavenly to ski down a steeeeeep face blasting powder slope.

"I just said don't say you're good if you really aren't"

sorry, but that sounds like calling people on bragging, and I know that you're stoked on the dryguy thing, but getting a little bit of product and maybe some prodeals isn't a huge deal, tons of people on the site have those connections, and not everyone starts a thread about it. I have no problem with you starting a thread about something you're excited about, but now it seems your criticizing others for boasting. Sorry if this isn't your intention, but it's definitely how it came off to me and I bet alot of others on the site.

k man, i use to reapsect some of the stuff you sayed, but now i think you just like all the spamers on this site. you make useless comlaining threads. yes your are part right if you ski park and only park you will progress in the park but no where else, but if you only ski big mountian you dont progress. I think the best way is to ski all disiplins and combine them , ski some super sick bc and then throw a nice smooth 3 off a cliff.

I also doubt that a lot of people on here actually ski big mountian, you prob think that hiking 5 mins from the top of a chair lift counts, but guess what it doesnt

some people who are sponsored aren't good all-around, maybe in just one discipline.

If you were offended, my bad. As TM skier or someone said, deal with it. I didn't mean for it to sound like that.

how is this ownage?

I know my mountain doesnt have a park, I learned park in 2 days at whistler, first 3, and 3 rails. Then I just built kickers in the BC and practiced my park there.

yo i'm not trying to be hating on the park skiers.

The guy who first posted in this thread other than me has my idea basically.

If you're offended then sorry.

Make as many hating remarks or supportin remarks as you like, but I'm stickin my my opinion. Most of you aren't doing these "SWEET 360" or "AWESOME URBAN" or "invader vs. fujative" threads.

But I just hate that.

I'm gonna be out for the night.

Peace,

Matt.

i totally agree with you 100% but there is always gunna be claimers and shit so i realize the point of this thread but its only going to do so much.

you're probably the 456th person to claim "park rats aren't good riders, big mountain riders rip it!!" probably because you can't slide a flat rail or are pissed your "prototype" skis aren't real.

enough lame threads.

uh I can slide a flat rail. Most people on this site can. At least I did it last year.

Read the thread and that's not what I meant at all.

So is ninthward.

Get off your high horse.

Just because you ski the mountain, and not the park. You are on a site named after park skiing, so stop trying to be some sort of elitist because you don't ski park, and you raced.

Good luck with your company.

However, you won't succeed if you don't realize the consumer base you are targeting, and what they want. You are looking at such a niche right now based on what I have read.

i think everyone knows that to be the best skier ever you must be able to rip a mogul run!

Dude, stop being such an elitist asshole. No-one cares how good you are or how much you know. Most people are just out skiing and having fun, you should try the same.

You really are on a high horse my friend. If you're an amazing skier that can RIP the shit out of everything, park, pow, big mountain, booters, included, great. And if you ARE that good, you honestly shouldn't give a shit about what other people are doing.

I'm sick of these threads, or threads complaining like these(many from you) about skiings state, or skiers mindsets. It's so fucking cliche but just ski to have fun. It's summertime now so everyone is bitching because they have nothing better to do with out any fucking snow.

Just ski. Stop Bitching. Have fun.

park skiing in my opinion takes a higher level of skill...... you see tanner and such tearing park all there life and then afterwards doing quite well in powder......... however you dont see people like seth morrison or hugo harrison going and shredding park..... these are just my opinion's
