I'm scared of my new skis

I've been riding my dads salomon x-scream pilots for awhile because I handed my salomon 720's down to my lil bro. Now the x-scream pilots are 180's so I was thinking I might get 180cm twin tips. So I did, about 3 hours ago I bought the 181cm 1080s. I don't know if the measurements were wrong on the x-scream pilots but these 1080's are huge compared to them. I'm 5'10' and I wanna know if there is anything I should worry about, like are they the right size and am I gonna be able to hold things down in the park with these big badass mothers

Don't talk to me unless you have a sweetass

i have skied on 180's for like, 3 years now. I don't think i would ski a shorter ski, i mean i jsut got 179, but thats basically the same. so ya they rule. but oh wait, i'm about 6'2...

so let the losers lose and let the players play/ the only difference is the dates of some dust on the clay, what

might be better off with the 171's at your height...for park atleast

it's not until you've lost everything until you're free to do anything

Those are a good size .. and i am just under 6 feet and i ride 182 Motherships.. I use them for everything ..jumps..cliffs..trees ..pow...if anything i personally would want a longer ski.

The only enemy agaist progression is FEAR!

well I have k2 fujatives coming in the mail whenever skiershop decides to fucking ship them, but those are gonna be 170, so who knows, maybe riding these 180s for awhile will make the 170s seem light as shit. I'm pretty sure its gonna take getting used to the 180s tho

Don't talk to me unless you have a sweetass

I don't ski all park tho, I mean yea I will spend about 4 hours a day hitting jumps and rails, but other than that I am skiing all over the mountain considering we don't have any bc booters or anything. So as for jumps the 180s shouldn't be bad. I'm thinking for rails though they are gonna be a bitch

Don't talk to me unless you have a sweetass

wouldn't worry to much about that, I dont think it would matter. Think about a tightrope walker with a balancing pole

dude I'm 5'9' and I ski on the 181 1080's. They are long but you'll be fine. It also looks more stylish with long skis.

a conversation between two skiers:

skier 1 ' have you seen those new skis with the tips in the front and back yet'

skier 2 'no but I heard about those things'

Skier 1 ' yeah I don't see why they would want tips in the back...maybe they are try'n to copy those stupid snowboarders or something like that'

skier 2 'Yeah seems like kind of a stupid idea.'

the challenge is to be yourself in a world that is trying to make you like everyone else

yea but douglas is sick and I'm as healthy as it gets. I just want to know if it will be awkward at first riding these big ass skis.

Don't talk to me unless you have a sweetass

alright well I will take your guys word for it because im headin up to the mountain this weekend, and i will be back with footage to upload to show what happens when you suddenly start riding 180cm skis

Don't talk to me unless you have a sweetass

oh yea one last important question. am I gonna be able to butter easily with these 180cm 1080s, cause I'd really like to be able to. I dont kno much about the flex pattern of the 1080s but im guessing them being 180s makes it much harder to butter. I'm gonna have to lean so far forward n make a complete fool of my bad self

Don't talk to me unless you have a sweetass

dude everyone is talking about their height, its your weight that matters, ask anyone with a brain in a ski shop and they'll tell you that. i'm guessing you weigh more than candide, that guy doesn't even know how to ski and he used em.

dude, i'm 5'11' (165lbs) and i ride 179s. i'm going to get the 185 ARVs soon, too. but i learned to ski on my dads old pair of K2 200cm comp skis

oh man my granpa rocks some of those, they are classic, i wanna find an old pair and twin tip them with a blow torch and take them out to the park some day and make the biggest ass of myself. it would definitely be worth it though

I'm 5'8' 150 and 179 pe's seem perfect. The lenth is sooo much better than the 169s I had before. Don't worry you'l get used to them and be glad you got the extra lenth.

well thanks bro's I appreciate the advice from those of you who are about the same height as me and are rockin 180cm's or close to it. i guess all i can say now is that i'm ready to join the club

yeah, the ones my dad has were burly (they're up on the wall now) - they were the same model used by the mahre brothers in the olympics (1980 i think?). i remember trying to get air on those things - i destroyed the topsheets more in 3 months than my dad did in 20 years

I'm 5'11'', and I rode 185s last year, 179s this year, and have ridden as big as 194s before. You'll be fine with those skis, my 179 Pistols are nearly the same size as the 181 1080s (due to the fact that Salmon measures running length and K2 measure actual height), and I can use them in the park if I so desire. They'll also be good for days when you're not skiing the park.

dude, i'm 5'9' and i've been riding 188's since highschool. (i'm a junior in college now) you'll be fine. i just recently switched to 175's and they're a bitch compared to the longer ones when you get going fast and when you're trying to stomp cliffs.

Dude, almost everyone in this thread who posted is wearing short fucking skis! The longer the better baby... short skis are so two years ago. I'm 5'9' and bumping it up to 186cm, but I want to go longer still!

yeah but thats stupid- for the 1080s which have a lot of width in them and the super long tips, you want 171 for 5'10 for sure, or you'll have trouble landing new stuff and the turning radius will feel to big- just demo the same ones but in different sizes and see which ones are best- i wouldn't say you need anything below a 171 though, cert. not fucking 161, for fags

--------------------------------------

think what you will, but english skiers will takeover one day...

yeah 161's would be good for you, 180's would be long for me and im 6'0

I'm so big

you'd have to jump and swing up

just to hit me in the knees....

Okay. Seriously, you guys saying shit like he wont be able to land a trick on them can eat shit. those are in no way too long, i'm 5'11 and I ride the 181 1080s, i switched from dorions. I learned switch 5's and 7's on the 181's just fine, in fact i find that they're pretty slick for airs. A little long for jibs but they do just fine on anything you'll be hitting up. I hate it when I see people 6 feet tall riding 161's, it's rediculous

If you don't make it the first time, you need to go bigger

basically it is your prefence, i was just saying that i like shorter ski's

I'm 5'11' and I ride the 180 4frnts and I dont really have a problem with those. I'd say that you will be fine with those.

I have a theory that all retards have one long tendon that goes from wrist to wrist, so therefore that is why they always are screwin around with one wrist up, and the other one down.

If you have Fujatives coming in the mail, you're golden. Just use the 1080s for all mountain and keep them away from the park for the most part, it'll be perfect.

Im essentially 6 foot, but I ride 169 pubs (PE's) I wish I would have gotten 180's cuz my mom got 161 1080's for 8 dollars. They are kinda old, but having 161's and 169;s is kinda pointless.

Quote of the week:Yeah, thanks Jodi's mom, for the blowjob... I always give in when she busts out the Werther's Originals!

im 511 i ride 180s.

Hell yeah Skipatroltric...!

Ha! I had to learn half of my tricks including switch landings and takeoffs on 193 Krietlers when they had a shovel longer than most kids skis now. Ah the good ol' days of skiing on Wisconsin ice. Seriously though, some of you guys should be skiing a bigger ski, you can handle it.....but to each their own, as long as you are having fun.

snowforblood...you should be just fine with those puppies

just start shreddin some pow and don't look back

fear is your only foe

rock and roll!

Holla!

i'm 6' about 160 lbs and i have 180cm candides that work rather well. i find it just as easy to slide rails with those as my old 169cm 1080's. you'll be fine with the 181's

im 5'7 and i ride on 180's and bigger, short skis suck for big mountain and i can't afford to just have park skis

i'm 5'6' and ride 175's, believe me, you'll learn to LOVE the stability of those skis, definitely stick with them

You should be able to hold it down on those skis. Since I'm a chick, I ride on shorter boards and growing up on longer ones, the shorter you go, the less stability you have - especially if you're cranking - the skis will start to wobble and what not. But I have to ride on the skis that I have because LINE tells me to. I do have a number of pairs of longer skis, which I prefer, but not for the park or rails or throwing anything huge.

im about 6 1 and i ride the 181 1080, its just going to take a little more work to get better at skiing and spinning. but if your 510 i would of gone with the 171 i think, worse comes to worse stick with the long skis and when your ready go back to short shis and it will be easier to do tricks or whatever.

-getting an inch of snow is like winning 10 cents in the lottery-

im like 5'8' and i have 176s and they havent been a problem, but then again i dont huck big tricks like you may or may not do
