I know this thread might not exactly belong in this section, but I figured I'd post it up here in hopes to helping spread the word!

For the past couple months I've been working hard again with campus and sponsors to make this happen this year, It's called "The Rum Ham Rail Jam" and we will be holding a collection for the Humane Society.

Here are the main details (worth a read atleast, pretty funny)

Steezles Deezles and Weezles Hombres. Surprisingly enough, our faithful Commander in Chief, Ryan Formica, outdid himself yet again by comin’ at us with this years’ “IUP Rum Ham Rail Jam!” It’s the best BRO-am event of the year where yall BROsephs forget what all your BROfessors, do some Linsey BROhan ;), and come on out to BRO-Out with the big time ballers of IUP.

DA MAIN DEETS: Now I know yinz tricks, skally-wags, mark-ass marks, punk trickstas, skip-skap-skalliwags, hee-hahs and hooli-hoos are thinking when at, where at, why at, what at, and how at is this whole event goin down. Well it will be held on December 10th 2011 out in front of Wallwork (the circle by the POD Store), with a starting time of 1 pm, ON DA DOT. There will be two divisions runnin in this, SKIERS AND SNOWBOARDERS and is open to anyone, don’t matter what school you rep, you just have to be 18 years or older. So if you some jail-bait or some young pimp who THINK he got game, just turn around and go back to Chuck E Cheese.

Each division will go through a series of heats, you gotta come with fire and be prepared to shred some serious gnar, and in the end there will be crowned a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner in each of the divisions. The 1st place winners in each of da divisions will be walking away with a BRAND NEW snowboard/ skis. The 2nd and 3rd place prizes have yet to be announced but just know that they will be off the hook. There will be a silent auction to win a date with the myth/ legend RAPTOR, it will be open to any man/woman. The biggest prize/ steeziest prize in the event will be the prized RUM HAM. It will be given to the baller who bangs out the best trick in the competition

IS THIS A GOOD CAUSE CUZ YALL SOUND SKETCHY? The real winners of the competition will be our friends at the Indiana Humane Society. At the event we encourage everyone to bring dry dog food, cleaning supplies, cat litter, ect. (mainly anything you feel will be useful to the workers and animals at the humane society).

REST OF THE WERD DEETS: Last year it was a lil softcore ish because we didn’t have any music, but this year DJ Energy will be meltin our faces off with some dope jams. This year as well we have A LOT of sponsors: Vitaminwater, Pepper Eyewear, Banchi Outdoor Adventures, Always Board Shop, Trailz End, Willi Ski and Boardshop. If none of this caught your attention then you must be blind n not be able to read this, or you are just a big ol’ Debbie downer brah

******due to time constraints you must email us if you plan to ride, invitations come at a first come first serve basis, so email us soon! Shoot us an email at iuprailjam@gmail.com ***************

Fuck mobile, my sister and her boyfriend graduated from iup last year. I would make the trip across the state if they were still there. Good luck though, you this shif works put for you.

i plan on coming man, also im studying digital media so if you are interested in getting pictures or even an video of the event, feel free to pm me

I appreciate the positive feedback a ton! Please repost the facebook event to your friends/ any other media outlets!

im sorry if this is offensive but attempting to read that description of the event literally made me feel significantly dumber. id change that if you attempt to have people take you or your event seriously.

the puppy mills are the problem, i think if you made the sale of dogs for profit illegal just like the sale of human organs, then we wouldnt have to kill so many dogs. i personally think it would be better to neuter most dogs and give them a chance to live as strays like they do in mexico and spain. if i were a dog i would rather have a chance to make it as a stray than be humanely killed at doggy auschwitz which is more or less what the humane society is. i had a stray pit bull follow me around for a week when i was on vacation in mexico. he slept outside our hotel and i fed him a little ham every day. much better life fore a dog then sitting in a cage for a couple months then being killed. but in america human life is valued far above animal life, so stray dogs would be considered a road hazard to humans...the us is way to anthropocentric in my opinion. but as far as money that goes to the humane society keeps them alive longer with the hope of adoption, im all for it

Yea I'm sorry about the age thing, it just makes things with the campus and insurance a lot easier and safer on our end.

Hey man, we talked last year about the rail jam but unfortunately I had to go home that weekend. Anyways I'll be at this one, can't wait. Thanks for all the hard work you put into it. It sounds sick!

I know it's a little late for this, but because of finals/christmas break it's taken a little while for all the media stuff to start coming in from this event. Here is a little letter I recently typed up for the sponsors or whom ever might interested in roughly what it took in order to make this event happen:

I would

like to take this moment and thank all everyone who was involved in this event,

without the support from my friends, family, and most importantly you the

sponsors much of this idea would have still been simply an idea in the back of

my head. With your help we were able to

create a great annual event for everyone to enjoy as well as help raise

awareness of our four legged friends here in Indiana.

My

friends and I started planning and working on this event in the beginning of

September 2011 up until about 2am in the morning day the day of the event,

December 10th. As we

meticulously planned out everything from insurance, prizes, to figuring out the

logistics of transporting roughly 400 cubic feet of snow we all had one common

goal- make it the most memorable event Indiana University of Pennsylvania has

ever seen.

We began

the actual construction of the ramp and set up in November of 2011 during

Thanksgiving break in order for us to get the set up dialed in before our

competition on December 10th.

Here are a few pictures from the construction process:

After tackling the task of building

our drop in ramp then came the next most crucial step of the proccess; actually

transporting the snow from out of town to Indiana. This proved to be one of the most difficult

tasks we had to deal with escpecially since we did not have much experience in

the logistics of bringing snow from out of town and back in time without it

melting before the competition. One of

the hardest parts of doing this was finding an ice skating rink that would

allow us to take their left over ice shavings from the zamboni. The trouble we ran into with is that many

will not allow you to take snow from their facility for insurance and legal

reasons (the ice shavings are considered toxic waste due to the sweat and blood

from hockey games) so they will melt the ice therefor disposing of it

permanetly.

We eventually tracked down two

arenas in the neighboring town of Johnstown by the names of Planet Ice and The

War Memorial. We then rented a 14foot

boxing truck and left for johnstown around 9pm

on the night of December 9th in order to minimize the amount

of time the snow would have to be sitting in the truck.

Waking

up at 6am sharp the next morning spirits were still higher than ever in

anticipation for the event to finally all come together in order to create this

here, The second annual IUP Rum Ham Rail Jam:

I'm terrible with trying to post videos....Here's the edit of it though:
