because school is way more important than skiing to me. I don't think I'm going to UVM but I at least have the option in case my family's finances are as low as they are now. In that situation, I will definitely need the tuition to be low.
I want to go to a good to great school academically where there is a great vibe and decent skiing. U Washington is much too large for that and UVM is perfect, and I like the UVM atmosphere a lot more than any of the "little ivy" schools I'm applying to like middlebury or bates (#1 and #2 on my list, respectively. UVM is a safety). If I wanted to be a ski bum I'd have forgotten about getting a PhD or even going to a boarding school like I am now.
I like learning. Call me a nerd, but school is definitely interesting to me at times, and I want to go to a place that I can really have a good time in and also learn from the best. So far I can't really find a school like that out west other than Lewis and Clark and that really doesn't interest me.
