I'm in the Mood for Ska...

I'm looking for a band with a loud, good horn section, solid walking basslines, that don't suck nor have I previously listened to. Anything remotely skaish, branching into swing and jazz'd be terrific...please post... or completely disregard my request and fill this entire thread with desperate means to raise your post count and therefore credibility. Your choice.

Capdown, Link 80, Action Shot, The Aquabats, Catch 22, The Chinkees, Less Then Jake, Los Kung-Fu Monkeys, Mad Caddies, Mighty Bosstones, MU330, Mustard Plug, P.A.I.N. (I highly suggest!), The pietasters, Potshot, Primitive Reason, Rantanplan, Reel Big Fish, Skankin' Pickle, The Slackers, Streetlight Manifesto, Switchstance, The Toasters, Twelve Cents for Marvin,

for a more punk sounding ska:

Against All Authority, big d and the kids table, Capdown, D-Cent Jerks, The Deligates, Edna's Goldfish, Face First, Link 80, Voodoo Glow Skulls

check out sound clips on amazon, then send me a message on AIM I can send you cds if you like through aim. my aim screename is jarossamdb7.

^ skatalites. fuck yeah. Try NFA, The Kiltlifters, The Hoochey Girls, Mustard Plug, and i have just gotten into Streetlight Manifesto so whoever said them up there...props

ding ding ding, you win

and there's only been like, 6 bands that I don't already listen to religiously mentioned in this thread...all of which mentioned by jaross... and more obscure the better!

you've heard of the Kiltlifters and the Hoochey girls? you get a pound of cookies. i think i've skied with you before too...second last weekend at whistler. whatsup

yeah, kiltlifters from vic and hoochey girls from van, yes? there's been a ton of shows that i've meant to see that the hoochy girls were playing in the last few months, but things came up...and yeah, i think i did ski with you...things are good, yourself?

and cork5thovex, you win an e-high five, and my respect. congratulations.

i would have to say desmond dekker, toots and mytals, hepcat, GO JIMMY GO, ska-p, justin hinds and the dominoes, and 2 1/2 white guys (utah ska represent). now i have im in the mood for ska stuck in my head. and after the rain, man the skatalites are awesome.

keasby nights by catch22, the saddest song by streetlight manifesto, but I would definately recommend SCOTT FARCAS TAKES IT ON THE CHIN BY LESS THAN JAKE.

theres like two differnt kinds of ska... right?

theres the gay kind thats like pop rock with horns, and then theres the awesome kind witch is like like jazz and dub and shit.

anyways, the skatalites are awesome.

Kemuri, potshot, yum yum orange, 175r, shaka labbits, bim skala bim, mu330. ohyeah i can't believe no one said tokyo ska paradise orchestra!

more like three. there is also punk-ska (not pop punk-ska like what you already mentioned) and a much smaller type Hardcore ska.
