here is my story, I have nothing better to do then to share it with you fine people. about two weeks ago i got very sick and wasn't able to eat but it was 3 days before i went on my big trip to colorado. I couldn't eat couldn't sleep but i still went skiing just didn't tell anyone how bad it was. It was my first time traveling alone and after phycing myself so much up for the competion in aspen i thought i had just made myself sick from nerves. So the day arives and its time for me to drive to the airport its about a 2 hour drive. I got two severe bloody noses and had to change my clothes but still went to the plane. I fly to denver all the flights get cancled and i get stuck there for 9 hours. I waited for my coach to come get me witch took about 5 hours. after the 6 hour drive to aspen im feeling better and a tad more relaxed, i throw up again anyways.

That first day I feel like I have a bad hangover but go skiing anyways at Buttermilk in aspen witch was by far the best day of skiing ive had in a while everyone from the aspen open was there meaning yay i got to check out my competion. I start getting really light headed after a few session of jumps beause i hadnt really kept food in my stomach for about 5 days but i ski with all guys so i didnt wanna whine and be a bitch. we eat lunch and i just get sicker but it was only some soup so i didn[t throw it up. my condintion just got more and more downhill but i liked skiing that day so i kept at it. two runs before the end of the run i wasn't able to hit the jumps my legs werent strong enough for the landing and i start like falling over so i decide its time to go home.

i start getting really sick again on the way home but toughen it out that night we hit up a hot spring and im feeling a little better. the next day i feel good we head up to snowmass the jumps were prime, at the first time we hit the jumps i jsut feel terrible almost passing out so we made 4 runs and i decide i can't ski anymore, i didn't eat dinner the night before just tried to get some fries and a milkshake down, threw up cause its what i do. so by that time my coach knows something was up so he drops me off at the hospital.

They took a urine sample witch was real cool cause i couldn't pee cause i was so dehydrated but when i finally did thank god, they imidiantly put me in a gown and stuck an ivy in my arm and took a blood sample i was good then pretty healthy feeling wanted to go ski more, then i got sick again and start dry heaving(nothing in mah tummy) waited for 3 hours and the doctors still dont know whats up then i take an ultrasound witch was painful, wait another hour to hear that my liver and my splein and possibly my gullbladder are fucked the hell up. another 3 hours and they ask me if i have a sore throat and i said no but my glands are swollen, turns out i have mono and if i had skiid for another day or two my splein would have burst and my liver could go into toxic shock. said i couldnt ski for 21 days can't get out of bed for two weeks. im feeling good today i go get a blood test tomorrow and im hoping i can ski tomorrow but its only been 4 days. send me the good vibes i dont want to miss the queens cup!

yo im hollering some good vibes your way, mono is def not the funnest shit...never had it but everyone thinks i always do because im always fukn sleeping at the worst times..its like i have that disorder bullshit when u fall asleep standing up and shit...so wtv recently i havent been eating much either and usually i eat like a barbarian and I wake up eat some breakfest and then just feel like dying all day at school and im not in high school anymore so its not like i hate my life and shit...wtv i hope shits ok because im going skiing soon and if i dont eat before skiing i might injure myself (knocking on wood)...anyway good vibes, stay strong

dam that does suck but you see that shit gets you the ladies, i haven't touched anyone since ive been sick out of fear im going to get them sick.

Love and good vides from Canada my friend.

At least you did not push it a bit longer, then you might have died. I'm happy your coach took you to the hospital. Much respect though for toughing it out on the slopes. You are a real trooper. My buddies could learn a thing or two from you; they bail whenever they have a cramp/stomach-ache/etc. Although I think you may have taken it a bit too far, I can still respect your love of the sport. I wish I could ski with you, you'd probably teach me a thing or two.

Again, good vibes and love all around. Speedy recovery, I hope you are feeling better.

Sucks to be in the hospital on valentines day. Good thing someone did something to stop you from killing yourself, you'll be back skiing in no time.

haha thanks...yea mono is pretty contagious its killed the kissing disease ha. .. my bad for callin you a man too, didnt notice the pink

didn't get it from kissing... but i need to make enemies to spread it haha, just kidding.

i get called man all the time doesn't matter

Dannng, your bassicly my hero...I can't belive how you still tried even though you werent feeling well. Thats a pretty big insperation, and because of your story I think I need to man up a little bit more on my jumps and tricks. But anyways, Really hope all goes well I'm defetnly sending a I-net hug your way

nope there wasn't any, im pretty embarassed i must have got it from a drink or a drinking fountain.

^^ well I didn't want to seem like a girl and bitch about being sick and not be sick ya know? and it was my first big competion so i was really pushing myself, I had alot of stress and i was way overworked from all the skiing to prepare for the competion. It's toatly unfair it had to happen though all my hard work and everyday of skiing went down the drain so fast, i wasn't going to go to the hospital but i think i woud have been dead by now, the white of my eyes are yellow and my liver is swollen and my stomach is full of fluid from my splein being fucked up, but today i can walk and i got hungry witch is really good!

From someone who has been to the hospital on many occasions, their fries are baller. Seriously, get some of that before you head home.

"i'm from the bay you beezy, if you ain't from tha bay you'za punk rock beezy

you ain't nothing but a punk rock beezy. whaa? "

mono sucks. hospitals are fun. ivs kind of suck. hospital food=can't complain.

thats sucks, good luck and get back to skiing fast. and to the guy above me i have been in many hospitals for sometimes weeks at a time and ive never had 1 good hospital fry. get the spaghetti its always bomb

I got my results back yesterday some how, I'm magicly almost back to health other then my liver is still pretty fucked up, im not sure if i had the best doctor im goign to a bigger better hospital tomorrow but the lady said i could ski just can't hit anything. yesterday skiing was an adventure felt like i was drunk without the fun of really being drunk. I had a permanent side ache and couldnt catch my breath but im goign skiing anyways thanks for all the good vibes maybe tomorrow ill get a better dr

damnn, im out for the whole of this season so i know how you feel, really hope you get better soon, good luck and vibess =]

Also good luck from me ... Get well soon!

This feeling of beeing drunk will be your last "drunk-feeling" for a while. If your liver is that fucked up, then its gonna be the last time you felt it for some time now?

mono is the worst.. had it for 3 months this summer.

felt like i was 90 years old trying to get outta my bed.

tried to skateboard.. big mistake.

shit was miserable. could barely eat, felt like i had shards of broken glass and sharp hot metal in my throat at all times.

its funny how they can never figure out that you have mono right away. real positive post eh?

i send the best of my vibes your way. I hope that shit doesnt stand a chance in your superior body!

good luck... you're so gnarly, as if you kept skiing and toughed it out. But definitely vibes going your way.

pics and it did happen lolzz

++++ vibes.

mono sucks big time. a kid on my hockey team had it bad and still played and got hit from behind and his spleen was extremely close to bursting.

look at it this way, giving up 21 days of skiing is better than going an extra day and never being able to ski again...

get well soon! (and i lol'd at the "no food in mah tummy", cuz i thought of a cat picture)

Wow all that and you were still trying to ski. thats pain tollerance. Glad to hear your recovering so fast. But dont rush take it easy if your going to ski at all dont wana totally screw yourself. Good luck

wow, that really sucks, I hope your feeling better,

your story reminds me alot of whats going on with my ankle, minus the fact of possible death, for me its only possible gibble for life.

sending good vibes your way, hope your feeling your best and skiing with mad skills soon.

hope you win your next big comp!

dunno about america, but canadian pillows are rock hard. but that's the last thing i worry about haha

i live in bc dawg. burnaby general and RCH are pretty decent i'd say. Lion's gait is pretty killer too.

so lately ive been skiing, but I think that doctor was wrong my liver feels as if my ribs are broken and my kidney is feeling really painful to, i guess if it hurts im supposed to go to the er but i went skiing today anyways... im super tired but its good to see everyone im going to the doctor tomorrow so many complications with what is going on its absurd. I really just wanna rally the park but i can only carve up the groomers

ahhh dude we all miss skiing with you. get well soon in time for the spring season! but im out witha dislocated thumb. so no poles for me. but jea, get well soon.

a dislocated thumb c'mon man thats lame. haha i have to ride with no poles now too i can't risk hitting myself in the stomach what so ever, well today is another hospital adventure to me, i get to go to the E.R cause i guess if your liver feels like its on fire for a while thats not good but psh what do doctors know

i know its lame. considering it was on the little jumps and i basically crushed it. haha the third time its happened on that thumb. but jea we can be extra cool no poles fools.

well the hospital in this town sucks they still dont know whats wrong with me they gave me some norco for the pain told me to take some tylenol witch i did for skiing and it did nothing im pissed but at least i got some drugs so i can sleep... I think im gunna go ride the park tomorrow for the hell of it if tylenol will make me magically better

i have a less dramatic hospital story then you have.

so this

sunday i get up to go skiing and my stomach hurts like a bitch. i

bought my ticket in advanced and i didnt want to waste a ticket so i

went out anyway. about an hour into skiing i collapse. 5 hours later i

wake up in the hospital. i guess i was stupid enough to go skiing with

a ruptured appendix. I could be dead right now but i collapsed

at the bottom of Freeway really close to the patrol hut.

so theres my story like yours

man, all you guys that say you like hospitals...how?

last time i was in there it was for appendicitis. i didn't sleep for 3 days straight because they didn't think i needed surgery the first day. then i woke up the second and they had to rush me into surgery because i was literally crying my side hurt so bad. 4-6 more hours and the appendix would have burst. fucking bitch ass doctor didn't know shit. plus they shaved ya know, after i had already shaved it. (i know wtf) and that cut open the skin, leading to MAD burning from the alcohol they had to clean my incisions with...

yeah but my other 6 or so visits have been good. and i love the food.

anyways, i would take it easy, you seem like you are moving at way to quick of a pace...you obviously don't feel good enough to ski, so don't. you'll lose more days pushing it and re-injuring yourself than taking a week or whatever off. besides that, good luck with the recovery!
