you need to be careful selection-wise. some, but not all of the huge areas are sick. some are very expensive and poor value.
FRANCE:
Val d'Isere/Tignes (espace killy)
+large area, extremely good lift accessed big mountain terrain and great nightlife in Val d'Isere
-quite expensive, quite crowded, good but not expetional park in Val...
Grenoble area
+exeptional parks in les Sept Laux and les Deux Aples and good all around riding, La Grave one of the big mtn greats
- ugly architecture..!!
Chamonix
+seriously gnarly terrain for freeriding
-guide required as most terrain glaciated, poor parks, v crowded, poor transport
Avoriaz, Morzine, Les Crosets (Portes Du Soleil)
+huge area, exceptional parks-superpark.ch and avoriaz, good freeride
-lower altitude so sometimes poor snow cover
AVOID les trois vallees at all costs! comparitively dull terrain, overcrowded, average parks, super expensive etc etc.
As for the rest of europe...
Big Mountain...
Verbier
Engelberg
Andermatt
St Anton
Courmayeur
Monterosa
Park...
Laax
Mayrhofen
Saas Fee
Silvretta Nova
A good idea would be to buy a book like the Ski/Snowboard Europe guide. They're pretty good reviews of resorts.
ENJOY!!
