im gonna build a sick ass hangout freeride shop that sells all the steeziest shit and you can just go there to shop or just to kick back. gonna be a big screen tv, tons of couches, music blasting, constant ski movies, comps, product tosses, pros coming to visit. its gonna be tight.

i thought of doing that but i dont think it would work because i dont think new school skiing is big enough to support a buissnes

but fuck i would hang out at your store

Is it gonna be called Jibj? Wait, that's already been taken.

if youre going to make a place to "kick back" youre going to get a ton of shit stolen because of all the little fucks like the little fucks on this site. goodluck.

TURN DOWN THE SUCK KNOB!

We have that and we haven't had any problems with people stealing. We have a pretty good selection of ski vids, so some people will just stay there all day.

yea dude, your idea for a shop is sick, but Josh already did that. You should give Josh and hundred grand and buy a franchise for the east coast or somthing!

Good luck dude, skiing needs more cool shops!

...he died doing what he loved. He will always be rememberd as a great snowboarder, but more importantly as a great friend.

In loving memory of Josh Malay.

YES! An East Coast Jibij is an awesome idea! And then in a couple of years I can start one in Ã…re!

God, I wish I could sit back and watch ski vids at my local shops. ONly half of them have vids, the other half have a tv, but they don't let you watch them. Im moving to denver.

i cant take him[liam downey] seriously cuz his name reminds me of that downy bear from back when i was a kid -d loc

I don't deny there are bad things in the US right now, hell, 51% of the country to be exact. But god damnit, our country being fat is NOT a problem. I do't give a shit how fat people are. hell, fat kids are harder to kidnap, that means our country is safer.

and be prepared to not ski a lot.

franchising is also an option... that way most of the work is already done.

hahah i can let my bro run it and its right below cranmore so ill be able to ski, and im talking when i am like,26 or something. an east coast jibij would be sick. as far as stealing little fucks go, ill have iraqi style law prevalent in my shop, if we catch you stealing, then we chop your hand off. either that or we'll just toss u in a dungeon for a few days. i was thinking that it would be sick to have a little stage area and have bands come and do small shows so that we can attract a ton of ppl. im thinking like, a newschool ski shop on the first floor of a joe jones type place and a big cd/band merch shop on the top floor. it would be sick. and as far as i know, joe jones is not for sale, i just would love a place like theirs that is so close to cranmore /attitash/other ski places.

It's hard work, believe me. If you commit yourself fully to it, it can also be incredibly rewarding.

Expect long hours, and not much time skiing. The summer is another huge proble, as any cashflow slows to a trickle. Always be honest and open with suppliers etc, communication is so important.

Be realistic, and build yourself up slowly over time.

Good luck with it, give it everything you've got, and you'll do well!

there's only so many places in this country where you could do that. it's all about the location and the marketing of that location.

i work at one of the joe jones stores in bartlett nh and you'll never be able to buy it because its a chain. they just bought another local shop so now they have three in the area and theyre building an addition on to their north conway store. its gonna be tough if you want to buy them. i am gonna try and build a shop in north conway someday. i just hope everything works out for me and joe jones doesnt put me out of business.

you obsiously have no idea how much a shop costs to run plus that its a seasonal thing so u would have to find some other means of inome on the other off season months becasue yes u would get some buissness if u stayed open year round but lets face it, u wouldt be able to pay the bills with three people a day comming in and buying a t-shirt

im not sure how well it would do if it was just a newschool skiing spot, you'd probably need to broaden you target market or sell something defferent in the summer atleast. But it would be rad.

first it's cafe pressed ski clothing companies, then its crocheted ass hats, now ski shops! wow, thats quite the ambitious leap! maybe you should focus on graduating high school first...and then college...and then some real business management experience...and then some other shit...and then...oh "newschool" skiing will be dead by then. later dude!

All I need are some tasty waves, a cool buzz and I'm fine.

ok, first think about how saturated this small industry is with these kind of shops. There is only a few of them, and yep, the industry is saturated.

jibij is a sweet hangout spot. you can sit there for hours talking and watching movies

stores do not make money off of loud music, and constant ski videos. I think your shop will do really well though, because people like buying good stuff from morons.

dude...music and ski videos make people be like..oh hey lets go to jibij and watch a video. then they are in the store and they are like oh hey, i need some skis. then they buy skis. if the shop has a good place to hangout it attracts more people which leads to mroe sales
