I'm gonna make a jib setup in my bedroom

Seeing as my sanity level has clearly reached an extremely low point, and that I still won't see snow for 2 months, im gonna make the possibly smallest rail setup in history of rail setups, in my bedroom.

I won't be using skis doe, ski blades will have to do (room way too small for skis)

Here's why i need NS' help for (what you need to read):

- I need the best way to minimise friction between skis and dropping ramp (i considered ice, yes, i did, but too complicated and annoying) knowing that it'll be around 2m length tops and not super angled. I heard orange construction fence is the best for actual summer setups, but again, i f i want this to work, i need the absolute maximum amount of speed i can get. So what's the best thing here? oh, inb4 goat semen (heard it eats through your bases after a while)

- I also need to minimise friction between skis and rail (right now im thinking of making a thin, 10-15cm large shotgun rail). What's gonna be the best material for this? Pvc? Super filed slippery ass metal? Something else? and no, im not gonna put oil on the rail, i want this to work on the long term.

Here's my situation in terms of measurement if you wanna know:

My bed is 45cm from the ground, and the longest i have is 3.5m (from the bed to my window) i have 160cm width all the way on those 3.5m (ski blades are 60cm, which leaves 50cm of "fall zone" on each side of the rail/tbox)

I need the rail to be 150cm, the landing zone 90cm (and ill put a mattress against the window so that i don't smash through it xD) and therefore have a max length of 110cm for a tranny and a mini kicker (rail will be around 20cm high so that i can pretz). The dropping ramp will start on my bed as far as possible, still working out the best angles for optimal speed and tranny.

So there. Don't tell me that it's a stupid ass idea that'll never work, I'm doing it anyways. If you want i'll make a (rather shitty) making of and first hit (and if successful full edit) edit.

Uh dude there are 100000000+ better ways.

Buuuuuuttttt. I made one simply by putting AstroTurf down my stairs, putting plastic on my shoes(cut up old ice tea cartons), and spraying all of it with WD40.

You need to get out of the house more

Believe it or not, i did try to combine skateboarding and ski blades, but twas a major fail.

Not one dry slope in a 250km radius

Already tramp every week, but still going insane for skiing privation

Nearest place to have a decent mountain bike run is 3h away

So yeah, making a rail setup is the best i got right now to stop me from losing all my sanity.

If only i had a set of stairs i could use....you don't think im just doing this in my room cos i think it's cool to have one in my bedroom right? This is actually the best place to do it in space wise.

http://www.amazon.com/Simtec-Fun-Slides-Carpet-Skates/dp/B000MN8DT0 Or you could buy these and make mini rails with carpet on top and shred all day. Im thinking about doing this it looks awesome.

It works with pvc pipe. Slides perfect but it breakes the carpet sliders after a while.

Is your pipe elevated? Any pictures or suggestions? Really considering this I can't wait two more months for snow.

A. i want to see this attempt you have schemeed real bad...lol

B. Im VERY guilty of training in my moms house!!! literally learned misty flips off the bed into pillows... and when i had my first apartments i really let my ski boredom manifest. highlights include:

1. shoeboarding- skateboard with shoes ducktaped on and jib furniture.

2. coffee table jib- polish long wooden coffee table and place on angle next to couch. jump on couch over arm and disaster said table( with socks on of course.) high score for this is 360 bounce to arm to wallride 270 to table...to switch!

3. stair skiing - find double flights of carpeted stairs and go skiing. shoeboarding also comes into play here, as well as drunken bike ride of death challenges.

4. a chair. balancing any chair like a vew do board is a fun challenge and a sure way to break something... stand on chair seat, put one foot on high back and balance. lol, for real.

Note: attempting any type of indoor recreational alpine ski jib training should be done in full steeze attire. dont forget your helmet

Don't use a drop in. Make something you can push yourself off of instead, maybe slightly elevated so you can have a bit of a down rail. If you're not too tall I bet you can get a decent down-flat setup into a room

Bungee in

make the landing way shorter and just fall into the mattress everytime so u have more room to make a decent drop in

Im considering this. Gotta get/make a bungee for this season anyways.

Guys i'm loving the reactions so far, looks like im not that crazy after all xD

BUT, i need help to find the best material for the drop in and rail! NS, help me and I will deliver!

The rail will have to be pvc. USE CARPET SHOES. it slides well on pvc and carpet!!!! You wont need a drop in.

If you do, use some spare carpet or a small rug.

Dude my ultimate goal is to be able to pretz in my room. On ski blades. so no, im not using carpet shoes, im actually doing this.

Still waiting on answers as to what materials to use for the drop in (turf, construction fence...?) and the rail?

For the rail I would use pvc, I find that easier for smaller setups like this. As for the drop in, I have no experience with that.

Man, what skiers do in the summer. Lol.

I think the carpet skates look sick, but if you're set on snowblades go for it! Could be sick, if you have enough space.

Yeah pvc is probs the way to go, but i dunno how slidy i can get it without oil or water...ill probs look into construction fence for the drop in for now.

I know times are rough and we haven't seen snow in a while, but we all need to keep our sanity. There's only a month or two left of the off season so before you know it, we'll all be back on the hills where we belong. Not being able to ski for long periods of time can do crazy things to a man's brain, but if you want to ski in your bedroom, just make sure to make an edit.

Word! This sums it up perfectly xD

ill most likely do the building of ramp and rail in 2 weeks when im on holidays. I swear to TW i will complete a pretz in my bedroom. This is going down.

I was at a friends house one day and we decided to take his carpet sliders and make a rail. it wouldnt realy work on carpet so we took a pvc pipe and put it on flat ground. it was so ghetto one of us would hold it at the end so it wouldnt roll and we would do 2 on 4 out. not a very good solution for ski withdral but works for a short amount of time.

Just buy a pair of roller blades... Lots of fun and there are parks everywhere or you can even hit up your local urban spots. Or just make a rail at home. I started skiing last season and i picked up these skates this summer SO I AM VERY NEW TO EVERYTHING, but they are extremely similar to ski slides. good way to stay on top of things in the summer with out the backyard jib setup.

Yh i always considered fruitboots as a summer sport but it does take some time to get comfortable with them, plus you eat shit loaaads...i dunno i got longboarding for the flowy feeling of shredding pow, i just wanna slide some shit in skiboots.

If you opt for getting a board, get a skateboard.

Anybody else reached that point where they literally 2 pretz 2 anything that that they see, stairs, couch, counter, bed, pets. Also learned corks into my bed. :()

Idk how big your room is, and I don't want to be a dream crusher, but I'm going to go ahead and say it's not enough room.

Your living room, maybe your BR? Not really unless it's trice as long as a normal medium/large BR.

If you want something in your room to shred build a mini ramp, that actually is 100% doable and you can fit a really nice one. Could throw one side right up against the wall, and have a deck on the other side with shelving built into it. Throw your mattress on the flat bottom and you have about as much space in your room as you did before.
