Im fighting with my friends about long life milk.

Yeah. ALL of my mates reckon if you leave long lasting milk (unopened) in your car on a hot day it will go off. I tried to tell them that it's not the case but things got really heated and I punched 2 mates and one of their school shirts got ripped in the process. This sounds fucking stupid but they still don't seem to agree and i'm coping so much in the group chat. My mates are kinda all pussies and I could easily take all 6 of them on. I really don't wanna knock all of my friends heads in over some milk. /

Haha what, go off means it goes all sour or "out of date".

I've never heard that expression before. Why not just say that lol?

And according to Wikipedia and some other sources, long life milk, also known as Ultra High Temperature processing milk is sterilized by heating to 275°F and then packaged aseptically which gives it the extra shelf life.

The EU has regulations on UHT milk. Has to remain sterile for 7 days at 131°F or 15 days at 86°F. 131°F is comparable to a car on a hot summer day.

Considering how the products are packaged and required testing, you should tell your friends they are 100% wrong and they can fuck off. This product is sterile, aka no microbes, after packaging and will remain that way for the duration of the shelf life. The taste might alter a bit or it might not, but it definitely won't "go off" as you put it. Still safe to drink assuming the package is unopened.

In straya everyone says "go off" when referring to out of date milk. Yeah i've told them excatly that and given them a crack on the chin and they still reckon im wrong.

Had I actually taken the time to read your username I'd have known that but I'm american and we aren't known for our reading prowess. We also lump the people who reside on your techtonic plate together as we cannot tell the difference in the accents or affectation.

Newzealander and Australian accents are completely different FYI.
