^I think Phantom skis already overshot the answer to that question and is looking to compensate now that they have a 180 length going. And hey, I wasn't being saracastic, I actually plan to ask anyone who buys the things what they're doing on a kid's pow ski, just to piss them off 'cause they probably spent like a grand on them. Hahahaha.

 
Very true. It just seems to me that if someone is going to produce a ski well over 100 in the waist, why not just make it long.?! However, I suppose it's kinda cool that these days, regardless of your size, you can find a pow ski that fits you. Then again, you are in the pow, so why not just go long and shred the f'ing gnar!

I think LINE has the excuse that the Liz isn't a powder ski and 130 prophets are wide enough to make up for 4 or 5 cm which don't make any significant difference anyway... but I agree, I'll always be a ~190 fan for a strictly pow oriented ski.

for small people I love that they have smaller fat skis now. I'm all about that. What I'm not about, though, is companies who don't make skis in longer length.

Yeah, 175 fat ass ski is sick.....but that ski would be MUCH sicker if it were 10-15cm longer.

it is nice to have companies coming out with skis like the ANT or Vinnie's 4frnt or Kindwood, etc, which are FAT and long. The trends seems to be moving back in the direction anyway.

nonetheless....all of those companies still can't touch the Igneous FFFs or DB Tabla Rosa out there. as sick as the prophet is....just no. umm.....FFF.....they are actually sexy.

havent skied it. heard pretty good stuff though, which I'm sure you have as well.

Great in pow, spatula like tips, tails really sink in. Gets bumped around a bit when it gets choppy, but suppose to kick ass in powder. sidecut is always suppose to allow you to really cruise as well. The shanook is also suppose to be really easy to turn.

The Tabla Rosa is suppose to be sick. Really light, kind of slashy ski. If I had to choose between Igneous FFF and Tabla Rosa it would be close. Probably have to try both.....

Tabla Rosa is shorter, lighter. FFF is a little fatter in the tips. My FFF have a straight tail unlike the FFF and Tabla Rosa, but according to adam at Igneous they are so fat you don't even notice it.

Any of these skis would just kill powder, say which is better is totally up to someone skiing style. for me, that has always been igneous. Will see how capital and kingswood fair, though

Capital have raised their prices, they were 600 this past year and I seriously considered picking a pair up. I mean they're not much above the MSRP of Armada, 4frnt, Volkl's larger sticks, and a lot of other companies, keeping in mind that they're a Canadian company. I could see myself owning a pair if I got a sudden influx of money or somehow removed an expense... like, say, school...

I sold a pair of Igneous FGS yesterday, the ones made for me, my babies. Some of that money is going towards new touring skis (gotamas)....but some will go towards school books. FUCK THAT. school books are such a rip off

I think I'd prefer the FFF over Talba as it is available longer and I actually usually prefer a slightly heavier ride to a super light one.

190 vs. 186. Im sure the Igneous are stiffer. 265 is pretty stiff =)

The igneous are also gonna be more durable.

plus the igneous are....iggies. just fucking sick.

and they are fatter.

The FFF are suppose to be more go straight and fuck shit up type of skis.

the TR are suppose kind of slashy and stuff. I would rather just go straight =)

It depends on what type of conditions you are talking about. I loved the 179s as my park ski, but the 189s are one of the sickest pow skis available.

anyway, back to your small discussion about tall vs. fat. personally, i think that short and fat skis arnt needed. if your short/small enough to need to go below the 180cm mark for a powder ski.......then you definitly dont need a waist at the normal say 110. maaaaaybe theres an exception to someone whos short and stocky, but then, why not be a big boy a go with long skis.

the 4frnt MSP's had it figured out. as the ski got smaller, so did the waist. if your 5'3, i doubt you need a 96cm waist.

i dunno, thats my thought on short fat skis. if your short enough to NEED a ski smaller than the fat ski standard, which i think is around 180cm, you dont need the standard waist.

now someone buy these profits.

one last note and i will be done on this tread for all eternity. the elizabeths are not strictly a powder ski. they are made for just about everything imagineable. take the FFF's for example, those are purely a pow ski. therefor they should be longer. i hope to god someone wont land switch on those bad boys. but with the elizabeth, they were engineered as a trick/pow/ everything ski. a utility ski if you want. so with that note, i want to end this topic like iggy said above. goodbye.
