Im Bored, Behold My Custom FKS/TT Bindings

ok, bored, and should be getting work done. so, here are my bindings, which are a hybrid between my favorite Racestock Look/Rossi parts.

the heels began life as your standard issue FKS 120, brand new. didnt do too much to them, other than disassemble, strip, and repaint the heelcup and plastic cover. the springs and din indicator were replaced with 13 Din Springs, primarely to match the toe. i have a set of 15 din springs floating around, but honestly, with a 328mm bootsole, and a recouping ACL, i just dont need that high a din. i picked the new style heel because of the Aluminum half-circle screw plate (VS the old plastic ones), and the more precise riveted forward pressure arms.

Now the Toe Piece, is an older style look toe, not sure of its designation. but they kick ass. the whole toe wing assembly, is one SOLID chunk of aluminum, and the forward part is fiber reinforced nylon. they are TOUGH. there is an upper block, that puts differing amounts of pressure on the toe of the boot. Along with this, theres a lil switch on the base (that yellow guy), and it changes where that toe-wing-block rotates from in an upward release fall. sweet shit. they are definitely the best skiing toe pieces ive ever ridden, and while the release is still fairly mechanical (like most race bindings), its still got a better release pattern than most current racestock stuff.

anyway, these guys were in DECENT shape when i got them, so i stripped them down to EACH individual part, cleaned, degreased, and reassembled everything. painted to match.

anyway, yea, thats my latest project. they are pretty dank.

BAH!!! your kidding right? besides that, if you were skiing them, got hurt, id be fucked legally.

SO SICK! So it seems you have a fairly serious relationship with Mrs Racestock..you must know those things absolutely back to front

hahaha, INDEED. i have 4 pairs of various ones, i actually like the older ones alot more than the current incarnations. but yes, i know all the internals and shit inside and out. after working on them a bunch, it drives me nuts that they didnt improve this design instead of going to the PXS or whatever. cause, yes, they are the best heels out, but they are FAR from perfect. theres so much that could have easily been changed to improve them. it really makes me wanna build my own, considering i prolly could as a senior thesis next year.

thats fucking sick! can i pay you, and ship you my bindings and some paint and have you paint em for me? those are sooo sick!!!

i used epoxy paint (like appliance), its held up ok, contact points wore off, but they always do anyway. powder coating would be the best way, but i didnt feel the painting aspect of rebuilding them was THAT important.

meh, i totally tore those down to paint them. that kinda shit implies some serious legal issues, i mainly posted these guys to make everyone jealous lol.

WOrd..Rossi will laugh at you if you fuck yourself and they find out you have changed the springs haha

The TGR guys will like what you have done

baha, right now they are actually mounted on a pair of last years silencers. pretty much a POS ski, but they are hold me overs while i build my own. hopefully should have those done soon, but its a tough call with a school/work/ski schedule lol.

Very nice man, love that you know that much about the clamps, I've never disassembled the heel spring housing or done that much to a toe piece, I applaud your hard work.
And if you could improve on the turntable heel design for a senior thesis (again, not sure about the legality of such things)...that'd be amazing, and I'm sure people would buy them, cause I for one am not buying that ridiculous PX heel any soon...or most likely, ever.
