I'm bad at rails, help?

So I can slide a box without trouble but when I get to the end I can't go forward again, I always slide out switch. Like I feel myself turning backwards halfway in the box and I can't control it. Any help on that? It also may be because I am using my cousins line stepups from I believe 2010. They are built like a skateboard and weigh a ton. Also any advice for skinny features and rails I feel like a slip out easily on them just trying to slide them and I have the same problem with constantly landing and going backwards. Help is appreciated!

make sure your looking at the end of the rail your legs go where your head and shoulders are pointing. if your having with street styled rails or non ride ons try changing the angle in which you hit them some of the times its just minor adjustments that you make that make all the difference. and make sure you commit you cant be scared to fall, and its not the most encouraging thing to say but when your first learning rails your gonna fall a couple of times before you get it just keep at it youll get it

Have your front ski angled up like he said and hold the rail right under your front foot on the inside of the rail.. Also like the other guy said, keep your head focused on the end of the feature or the landing. Don't square your shoulders to your feet!
