I am getting my first pair of twins and looking for a good ski under $400 max. I'm 5'11", 190lbs, 30 yrs. old. Expert skier, but not in park. I'd end up being 70% all-mountain, 30% park. I live in upsate NY, so it has to be able to handle the ice and crud. I am down to the following:

07-08 K2 Silencers - $250

07-08 K2 PE's - $300

07-08 Line Chronic - $275

07-08 Dynastar Trouble Maker - $300

07-08 Dynastar Nothing But Trouble - $200

08-09 Dynastar Trouble - $325

What's the best ski for the $$$?

Out of all the skis listed I would say get chronics, those skis seem to be able to tear up everything. Good all mountain and park ski.

There are definatly a ton of sick skis for under that price range. Alot depends on how you like your ski also, if you like a stiff ski, soft ski, or somewhere in the middle.

I like to play... I can't go as big as I used to, but still love to pop off just about everything on the mountain... I'm looking for the most versatile ski i guess. Definitely needs to be light and spin....

chronics or anthems

both are sick skis and both are able to tear it up all over the mountain.

and they both are pretty durable so unless your tom wallisch, you can usually get at least 3 seasons out of em.

fuji's are ok, but i feel that they lack the all mountain ability. they are pretty much park skis. the 08/09 fujis look sick tho, and they are much wider underfoot than the old ones.

i still have my chronics and theyr my rail skis now and after 4 seasons theyr still hangin in there.

that should say something about LINE and thier quality of skis.

hope that helped. LINE is a great company and they pretty much havent made a bad ski yet...

Don't get me wrong, I love line, but do you remember the (05/06?) Invaders that delammed?

That being said, from what I heard line was super legit about their warranty

like eveyone said chronics or TMs. I just bought some of last years trouble maker limiteds for my brother and I think the flex will be perfect for all mountain.

thats ONE model of skis from ONE year.

LINE has been churnin out sick skis for over 10 years now and thats the only big problem the've had that i can recall. thats pretty good.

and yes, LINE has great customer service and thier warrentys are great even though they know kids are gonna use em on rails and everything.

chronics have a harder base so they will take more abuse than other skis. plus they are a great all mountain ski

Again, chronics gte my vote.

Super sick ski, def. can hold its own all mountain. PE's again not a bad choice. Get the longest size you can lke a 180ish

chronics are dopppppe. no brainer. def get the 181s. the big troubles would also kinda make sense, something a bit more versatile than the others.

FISCHER ADDICT PRO"s!!!!

last years models are only $$$$325, honestly its the best ski ive ridden in along time, im getting some of last seasons i was that impressed. there fairly light, very durable twins w/ top o the line performance.

THXs everyone. This has been very helpful...

I think I'm going 07-08 176cm Chronics with 2008 PX 12 TI's... All that for under $450... LEGIT???

I'm still considering the Blend's as Line markets that as their one-ski-quiver. But from what I am hearing from the posts, I'd have no worries all montain on the Chronics, and benefit from them over the Blends when it comes to the park...

THANKS YO!!

$450 for that setup is decent deal... not the lowest but if you can't find any better deals than by all means go for it. and yeah what you say is true. blends are def sick skis also but chronics will still tear up the mountain and will be better at park.

If you are thinking about blends, I would make sure to go with the

09's. They are completely redesigned this year and absolutely kill.

You won't be getting them for as cheap as last years chronics though, but chronics kill also so don't worry.

So if this is based on cost, get last year's 181 chronics. And PX12 Tis

would be a good choice, go with it.

Chronics are awesome skis, and you won't be disappointed. Don't go with the 176 though, especially if you are an expert skier. You are 5'11'' and 190 lbs, so you should really go with the 181 length. You are used to mounting back further, and when you mount more towards center you will feel very odd and regret going that short. Line skis tend to measure short also. 181 chronics actually measure 178.

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR INPUT EVRY1!!!

Here's the update. I just got done ordering my new setup. I ended up going with:

2008 Chronics (181cm) w/ 2008 Look PX 12 ti Jib mounted on the line (+/-0).

Yo - how come no one mentioned how dope these look... I never knew they were flourescent!!! Hellz yeah... the pics on the internet don't do them justice...

$470 including mount, tax and delivery.

DOPE SKIS W/ STEEZE... SICK! WHERE'S THE SNOW.
