I am all for gatekeeping skiing and keeping new people who don't know what they're doing out of the sport. I think mountains should have skill tests for people above the age of 10 in order to keep out terrible skiers. Also swerve skiing looks stupid and so does baggy pants with fitted jackets. I don't believe in helmets. Hats are more comfy and look better.

it’d be cool if we got “levels” like in a RPG, and you can only access certain lifts at certain levels.

oh and if you’re visiting from Texas its -100 levels no exceptions.

Hot take. I'm all for it but Jerrys are what keeps your resort alive, not seasoned park rats.

Bro If I said that I'd have the fbi at my door ready to stomp my ass out and then cut me up into a fish fillet

Should be a test to be eligible to be able to ski the rest of the mountain if u don’t pass you stay on the bunny hill and keep learning

That's for sure true but there needs to be more mountains like Silverton that are just for the people

I grabbed a guys skis on Ticabo at monarch. He was about 100 yards lower than his skis. I handed him his skis. He was wearing camo and had a southern accent. “I hit an ice patch”… the run was wind loaded With no ice lmao

Monarch, of all resorts, should have the test

Monarch would lose 98% of their skiers and most of the staff

We should only allow people with a yearly income less than 50k in the park.

You can easily make more than 50k a year being a laborer on a construction site get your ass to work lol

Yeah I don’t really know what a good salary is

The best application of this idea i've seen was at some park in europe where they had a jump with fencing on either side at the top of the park, meaning you had to hit the jump to enter the park (I think someone made a thread on it?) That's the best way I've heard I'm surprised more mountains don't do it

To get attention? Why does social media exist as a whole?

Let's see some footage Tom Wallets

Why would I make this thread if I couldn’t back it up

As I was wading through the million spring break tourists yesterday at Winter Park I see the benefits of this. At least part of their park makes you have another pass. Definitely keeps the crowds low.

Last year my local put a steep roller with fenced off sides at the top of the park so if you wanted to enter the park you had to carry speed from the lift. Didn't have to bomb through but jerries would ski into it slow, waddle half way up and decide it wasn't worth it. Was extremely effective but management wanted to be more inclusive to all skill levels (in the big park). After several close calls with people on the landings they're letting park staff push another roller back at the top for the next park build.

You should have to send clips to IKON before they let you purchase a pass.

Or a skills price tier. If you can KFED $300 pass, if youre still boosting the rail lips to the side $10,000 for a pass

This is a very productive and progressive conversation that many simply arent ready to have. Caveman is brave.

I never said I was pro or some crackhead comp kid. I'm suggesting that people who are incompetent skiers shouldn't be allowed into certain resorts/areas

Yeah but that's just an idea in your head of what an "incompetent skier" is. No one likes lift lines or people in their way but the reality is, there's no good way to weed out only people that shouldn't be skiing a certain zone or something.

I can see how it would be that way for parks in bounds, but Taos keeps weaker skiers out of west basin and highline by making you hike there. There’s even a tiny uphill to get to the Kachina lift, not sure how effective that is though.

Some midwest resorts, at least ones I grew up skiing in Michigan, had a patch "system" that was color coded much like ski runs that only allowed certain skiers with the patch through ski school (mostly children) access to certain chairs. This should be included in the RFID systems nowadays.

But lets face it: Skiing would turn into a full-blown video game (as if it already hasn't) with the DLC being like fast tracks and pay to play gimmicks.

But to be honest, OP is just another 18-21 year old retarded trend whore who skis backseat and "misses the old days of skiing" when his mommy and daddy took him to Park City that one time.
