Im 5'8 and have a pair of fatypus skis that I want to center mount for park skiing. What im wondering is will i be able to butter with these. The skis I've been skiing with are like 169 K2 press and i can butter just find with those. Basically what im trying to say is will these skis affect anything i do in the park since they are so long.

Technically it should be easier to butter them because you get more leverage on a longer ski. It just depends if you can initiate the flex on em. Fatypus skis are pretty soft as well. You should be fine.

Yes, it is possible to butter any ski at any length as long as you do your calf raises.

Any ski?

You'd have more leverage against you. Sure, more ski to let it bend to a further degree, but the center of flex would be too far in front of you and your direct center of weight would be further away. Requiring you to lean forward further. Sort of why it's so easy to do butters in powder on a snowboard because each foot is so close to the tails.

ya dude sizing up 14cm is gonna have a major impact on your skiing. if you're a strong, proficient skier your legs will grow into them. However, If your a newb it's gonna be a major adjustment and you will probably have some trouble doing the same tricks you're used to. Going for that long of a ski may or may not have been a good decision but that all depends on how much you weight, how good of a skier you are, and what kind of skiing you want to do. no matter what tho, you can expect your skis to feel pretty damn long for at least the first few days.

the bigger question is howd u butter in the press. i had 2015s for 2 years and the closest thing i got to a butter looked like something off of nick goeppers insta

My press skis are pretty soft tbh but its because I do butters everyday lol

It may also have something to do with me using the 2013 k2 press with the "real jib rocker" that was basically flat underfoot. My 2018 ones have a minuscule amount of camber which might have a big effect but idk
