Look at any Ikon add on FB/IG and you will see a million comments like this.

I was freaking out a bit over their decision to let people defer their passes but that just means they're letting people who either planned on a ski trip this year or had one planned that went down the shitter cuz of all this which is probably the case for a lot of people at a lot of resorts all over. People are being cautious which we all have to be rn but Idk it just feels too early to call off the 20/21 ski season yet. If everyone does their part currently and whatever, its definitely an attainable goal.

and OP and his entitlement along with the 1000s of other people blasting resorts on social media currently, including all the people filing a class-action lawsuit against Vail for closing down early, can all eat a fucking dick and you're the reason skiing has such a bad attitude problem.

Some old douchers here were suing vail over paid parking when they have massive free lots, a fucking bunch of shuttle busses, and parking in that lot.and getting traffic off the road actually improved most peoples time to the hill substantially.

People are entitled cunts, and some of these douchebags deserve to get slapped.

The best part is that none of these fucks even ski in april. They only care because they can't now. In any other circumstance they'd be practicing putting or driving their boat around chugging wine or something. They don't tive a fuck about skiing. They're fragile little fucks and they care about somebody telling them they can't and in their mind challenging them.

Go back to the cities you chodes and shut the fuck up.

Obvs not ikon, but I'm pretty stoked that A basin is allowing folks who haven't used all their multi pass days this season to use them next season.

Vail just released discounts for next years passes if you had one this year. Hopefully Ikon does the same

Yeah isn’t it kinda dependent on your # of days this season? Doesn’t matter for me cause free epic pass from work (no I don’t work for vail) but I kinda hope vail could do something better than the ikon in terms of deals, would just be funny to see the two competing for the best Rona szn deals.

its kinda sad they're giving into the bullshit, they're just getting bullied and can't save face without giving people money, which IMO they shouldn't have to do at all, classic USA people taking advantage of a problem so they can benefit.

Meh, I get what you’re saying but it’s just like any other big corporation in America. They are looking for any way possible right now to get cash flow in. Even at a reduced amount.

I think the ski business will have some big changes this coming season. Not sure exactly what yet but maybe reduced lifts or staff in general, try to minimize overhead and spending?

Usually this time of year is a huge hiring push for mid and upper level management. SAMs website and classifieds usually would be at 60-70+ listings, currently there are 24 and those are all months old. Scary

Yeah idk why everyone is so angry they’re not being refunded especially if they’ve used it, idk if my work even got the money for vail to reimburse us on our last check this year. There’s also so many factors besides disease that can ruin a ski trip, flights cancelled, rain, wind holds, too high of avy danger off piste, bags getting lost etc.

all those are assumed risks when you’re going on a ski trip, and these people are just pissed off they planned some and don’t get to go cause they’re health is at more of a risk...Can’t predict the resorts closing as a whole but with every trip comes the risk of something going wrong, refunds on hotel bookings or maybe some rental gear sure but if you think you’re getting money back on a pass that’s rarely ever refundable since forever and because a world health crisis caused its resorts to close, fuck you.

i might have to get in this ikon Facebook group, I can’t even imagine the beaters in there.

I just hope most of the resorts can open next winter, since it didn’t end right this year I’d like to give my work in PC one more season before mainly being in the cottonwoods, which they won’t like.

I’m surprised to see this from vail, that would be a pleasant surprise from ikon to get 20% back or off next season at the price of last seasons rate. Either way like I said before, don’t feed the trolls.

Ikon is already giving $200 off

I wouldn't say that they are giving into any bullshit. This is a clearly stated business decision, the good will to customers is a added bonus. From the press release:

As a result of the early closure this season and the meaningful credits we are offering to 2019/2020 season pass holders, we will be delaying the recognition of approximately $118 million of our deferred season pass revenue, as well as approximately $3 million of related deferred costs, that would have been recognized in the remainder of fiscal 2020 and will now be recognized in the second and third quarters of fiscal 2021. This will result in a reduction in lift revenue and Resort Reported EBITDA in fiscal 2020 of approximately $118 million and approximately $115 million, respectively, which is incremental to the negative impact previously disclosed on March 18, 2020. Fiscal 2021 lift revenue will increase by approximately $118 million, partially or fully offsetting the negative impact of the credits being offered to pass holders, depending upon the final usage of such credits

towards the purchase of 2020/2021 season passes, and fiscal 2021 Resort Reported EBITDA will increase by approximately $115 million.

Simply stated the credit is allowing them to move money into 2021 to help insulate from expected lower lift revenue.
