Ignorant Parents

My parent are kinda this way... My dad was kinda pissed when i got my XL saga pants and the waist was huge but now he fine just thinks its stupid lol. He also doesnt like short poles but i have like perfect length now where they arent to to short but they dont look huge in the park.

You gotta remember skiing is only one part of life and if theyre chill i wouldnt let ski pole get in the way.

Its also not ignorance dumb ass

yeah im glad im lucky enough to have parents stoked enough on me skiing to allow me to build a summer setup or use short poles. you can't outrun the occasional sarcastic comment tho

Thanks. My kids will probably still grow up to be axe murderers, but at least they will know how to do swaps. :-)

my mom hates that i ski mostly park, but she hasent skied in 20 yrs so wouldnt know how nasty it can be so thats kinda good, but when it comes to backyard, she freaks if i build anything, but i did this behind my parents backs so by the time it was set up there was nothing they could do about it! if they knew that i was building this they would have stopped me before i got anywhere.

my mom told me today to stop skiing on rails because they really damage my skis! She told me to stop jumps too!

I think I like your mom haha!! I love everything about the freeski culture (except the hating here on NS) I just bought my son the new Jiberish x New Era J cap, and he hadn't even asked for it yet, but I liked it!

I don't get what's the problem with cutting down poles anyway. You have to have them at the proper length, and for Freestyle thats at the hip or lower isn't it? It's like useing golf clubs that are too long,,,,you can't. You have to have them cut down to the proper length.

i got the same problem. my parents dont let me just lap the park at mountains or ski crazy stuff on pow days, they want me to ski with them for part of the day. i dont really care because theres no way i could ever afford all my own equipment

Solution = cut them down and when they start complaining blame it on your mom. Tell them you left them in your pile of dirty clothes, she washed them and they must have shrunk in the dryer. You could also spray paint them pink and say that she must have washed them with the colors.

hhow old are you homie, because your soundin like a little bitch right now. if you want to sag your pants just do it. if you want to cut your poles just buy your own and do it. put the grip in boiling water, pull it off, cut pole with any saw, push grip back on pole. your dad doesnt have to help you. dont let your parents make all your decisions.

hey namaste you guys

my parrents wouldnot put bindings on my new skis cus i got a c in math i was like what the fuck im in 8th grade

not to rub it in but my dad helped me cut down my poles and my mom sewed me some tall t's so they'd layer properly.

hahahahahahha. now i remember why i took a long break from the newschoolers forums..

failing to see how your parents are "ignorant". go buy some poles of your own and cut them.

This thread is now a "cool parents who help out with freeskiing" thread.
My parents bought me a pair of bindings, and went and made sure they mounted them true center. Not the coolest, but its the little things.

My parents are great. My dad helped with like 90% of my backyard setup. If your parents won't let you cut down poles after explaining they last longer (bend less) hurt less, and still work as poles, you have terrible parents. It's not like you're asking to cut your ski down.
