who here makes igloo's in the winter? I usually make one a year in my back yard. Well, I've never made an igloo, only quincies.

For those that don't know, an igloo is when you cut blocks of snow and build the walls from the ground up. A quncy is when you make a pile of snow and hollow it out.

This year I'm making a copy of a qunicy a friend of mine made a few years back, but might will be a bit bigger. It's going to have a curvy tunnel (to give the illution that it is longer then it really is) into a big room with a bench going around the wall that will fit aprox. 15 people, and a table in the middle for, well - whatever you want to put on the table. There will be a chimney to air out the place after a hot box session, and if I get around to it, I will have a slide going out of it.

If you have never built a igloo (or quincy) I really recomend it, it's kick ass.
 
the house next to us is a navy house... we get new neighbrs every 6 months. i saw a huge pile of snow coming from out his window and im like o shit! hes making a roll out! the next day i go over there and i talked to him. he was the biggest wiener ive ever met. he told me he was builing one of those. i laughed. then he made a snowman that was like 12 ft tall and i gave it a penis and it was masturbating. thats the end of my story that went no where. hope you liked it!
 
this thread deserves a bump, making igloos and stuff is sooo much fun for hot boxing. this winter i might make a huuuuge quincy in my hard and have a little party in it, that would be soooo pimp. id be famous.
 
haha, me and my little bro made a quincy last year that was pretty massive as far as ours go. It had 3 entrances, and the middle was like 15 ft diameter, with like 6 ft ceilings. I was impressed I could stand up in it
 
me and two of my other friends went up to sugarloaf last winter and when we got there at like midnight we made an igloo, but we called it a smoke hut and we blazed in it, it was so funny
 
I'd kill to have the chance to build one... snow is as rare as pope's poop... making it a smoking place is such a good idea. I thought about it right aftre reading the title

 
the lifties that work at the top of the t-bar have made snow caves close to the top every year for smoking dope in hahah
 
Me and my friend made a quincy a few years ago and it caved in on us, it was fucking scary, but our strong friend was on the outside and was able to save us before we died.
 
i make quincies all the time. don't forget the angles entrance so you don't get mad wind in there. you should run an extension cord and light into that shit. and a sound system.
 
I make one every year and my last year's one got into the city newspaper haha (10ft tall and 13 ft wide). Brought in a soundsystem and a bar and had a sick party lol. I got an Igloo tool called the "Icebox" that helps shape the perfect angles in the dome.
 
yesterday i built half an igloo while my friend was building the jump. it was pretty sweet i cut little eye holes into the blocks so you could look out at the inrun and jump
 
We always used to make them out of the snowplow piles back in elementary school, it was always a riot breaking them when kids were inside, nothing like pulling them out kicking and screaming by the legs.
 
if you know how to make it it can take a LOT of weight. the next morning we stood on the roof and it didnt collapse
 
Ive made both...are they are sick. But Igloos are so hard to make.....the snow has to be soo specific. But once you got it, its the sickest set up ever.
 
seems like it would be mad hard to make a quincy. how big does the pile have to be and after the pile is built up, where do u start???
 
one year i relocated all the snow in my yard into one pile and hollowed it out....there were stairs up to the entrance, a slide down into it, and a tunnel at the bottom to exit...

When i was little we uses to hollow out caves and tunnels in the snowbanks on each side of the road from teh snowplows and have town wide snowball fights....its a wonder no one ever died in a cave in
