IF3 - TANNER HALL IS A CLASSLESS IDIOT

Exactly!! He knows what he is doing. It's called marketing, whether it's good or bad, those antics created a huge amount of free publicity for him.
 
Everyone that is talking shit should just shut the hell up. Alllll day long we all watched movies. That's a long ass day so hey drinks are going to make that even more fun for some of us. I'm not going to lie I was wasted too. Definitely couldn't find my way to Club Soda myself either. Definitely couldn't find my way back to my hotel. It was Saturday & I was in Montreal with a bunch of my friends and a ton of other people that I hadn't seen in a long time. Guess what...that equals one badass weekend of partying to me. You're on here bitching so I'm guessing you didn't have all that much of a good time. Well I know I had a fucking great time and a shit ton of other people did too so lay off because as others in here expressed before Tanner, Iberg, Bishop, Sammy, and everyone else are human. None of us are perfect, but we know we're here to enjoy life. I'm sure we all could have gone without some of the shit that happened, but it did, and it's in the past. I went to the Powder awards a few years ago and they sucked compared to IF3.

Thanks go out to everyone that put something into IF3 whether it was a movie, gear, or time and effort in organizing the event. Soooo much great free schwag was given out & we got to watch a ton of movies in a movie theater on the big screen. How the hell can you complain about that?
 
Shawn White is marketing, Tanner Hall is a drunken ski god. He should have thrown bottles at the kiddies.
 
I will say this and it may have been said time and time again on this thread , I didnt read but a 1/16 of it If it were me and if it was MY movie I guess I wouldnt do what he did other then that I realy dont care what he does he is a geat skier.. So thats my 2 cents
 
yeah but sammy doesnt think he's THE BEST SKIER IN THE WORLD and hes not an attention whore. the thing that pisses me off is that theres skiers out there JUST AS GOOD as tanner, who dont get anywhere near the recognition they deserve.

haha yeah tanner is a dick. i was out at park city and spring break last year and he snaked me on one of the jumps out there. granted hes 90 million times better than i will ever be and i shit when i saw him drop a lincoln loop right infront of me hes still a dick. i dont know but if i screamed like a bitch when i cased chads gap i wouldnt be acting like a badass. when i saw that video i thought my sister broke her ankles in the other room

That just shows how small our industry is. One of the top pros in our sport can stand up in front of an internationally represented crowd of core fans and industry bigwigs and act like a foul-mouthed three year old, and it doesn't really affect his status. When actors or major sports stars do it, they show up in the headlines, their status gets a lot of negative attention, and in turn they lose portions of their fan base causing viewership relative to their sport or movies to drop! With skiing its little more than a blip on the radar, unless its like Bode Miller drinking the night before his Olympic run (which was retarded, by the way, i don't care what "statement" he was trying to make).

A true pro should act the part. A true pro has every right to refuse a picture or autograph--thats the basic right to privacy! But when it comes time to stand up and represent yourself and your sponsors, you should have the wherewithal to refrain from swearing, wait your turn to hold the mic, and not be so drunk that you slur your words and can't stand up straight. You can still have a few drinks and tokes to take the edge off! Plus you'll be in better shape for the after party.

Some professionals understand this concept and act accordingly. Others do not. The way you react as a fan can have some affect. Under our wonderful capitalist system the way you vote is with your dollars. If a pro does something you have a problem with, don't buy his products. Don't ride his pro model, don't drink his soda, don't bite his style, don't talk him up at the next house party; don't support him. Simple as that. Eventually, if the pro is delinquent enough, and turns off enough people, he will no longer have the support necessary to keep him in the spotlight. And then he can act however he wants, 'cuz nobody will be watching.

Accordingly, if someone does something you think demonstrates their personal merits and moral fiber, support them. Buy their shit. I once saw Dumont help an old man joey who had crashed while fumbling his way through the park. Dumont could have been like the thirty other kids in there and laughed at the dude and skid by his yardsale. Instead he was the bigger person and helped the guy out. I thought that was pretty cool. Now I ride Salomon.

If a pro acts a fool and fans don't react by removing support, then Mr. Bishop's statement will only become more true. Tanner's sponsors don't care how he acts cuz thats part of his image. His fans support it--with the styles they emulate and the products they buy. If Tanner acts this way, in the sponsor's eyes it only makes him more marketable--I mean come on, everyone acts that way right? Why shouldn't Tanner?

This attitude is the slippery slope upon which negative stereotypes about our sport are formed. This is why ski pipe has failed to reach the Olympic level. This is why X-games ski-pipe gets less air time than snowmobile cross. This is why ski patrol automatically thinks I have done something bad when I ski by wearing twin tips.

To me, when it all comes down to it, a true pro is someone who not only has amazing skills--which Tanner undeniably possesses--but also has the personality and social maturity to back it up. Someone asks them to speak, they give an intelligent, relevant response.

I love watching Tanner ski. He's sick! When it comes to hearing Tanner speak, and observing Tanner's actions when he's not skiing, I'd say he has a ways to go. I think Tanner is aware of this. He once said in an interview, "Skiing is the easy part." I think, in his particular case, this is 100% true, especially with regards to his behavior as a true professional. Only time will tell.

You guys are right. Someone that owns his own cat skiing operation, film production company, and stock in Armada clearly isn't professional at all. Not to mention he's won practically everything. Oh wait, that's right, he also could quite possibly be one of the most talented people to ever jump on skis.

IF3 was so sick and for those of you not able to attend, start clearing up your schedule for next year's event because I'm sure it'll be bigger, badder, and we'll all get waaay more wasted.

P.S. This was the most relaxed/fun weekend I've had in a while.

which is the exact reason why TJ makes 10x more and is promoted 30x more than vanular. both have won the US Open, and i personally think vanular is better in every aspect of skiing except when it comes to flat 5 truck drivers, but TJ is probably one of the friendliest pros out there and markets himself so well and makes bank, where as vanular just destroys everything and probably doesnt make as much.
 
This just shows us that he is being himself at every moment and not faking being the nicest guy around like a lot of pros do. Its true, you should know when to drink or when not, but fuck that he is like that and people will always find a way to hate on you, also eceryone makes mystakes broo.

You choose you own roll model, he didnt choose to be one and he is living the life how he want, if people want to imitate him is their own choice. If it was me in hes position I will not change anything I do just to be a "good roll model" for some kids. We live the life how we want. And the guy who said he was going to send an email do dalvello and oakley is a fucking PUSSY.

By the way, how many of you like guns n roses, red hot chillipeperers or any famous rockbands,or gangsta rap... I bet its most of all including the guy who created this thread. They do music same as Tanner does skiing and they do more drugs and alchol than any one, and every one knows it but do you think they care if some1 says they are a bad roll model? They are just living their life how they think its ok and they will not change just to make people thinkg they are good people. That would be hipocryte.

People (adults) drink and party and have fun. The place looked like a big insane drunken industry party. Deal with it.
 
Damn, really?! Dude! Tell Tanner that! I'm sure if he knew his restraint in drinking excessive amounts could help the sport in so many ways he'd be on board. Wow, who knew it was so easy?

there is people like this involved in every sport tanner just happens to be one of the best and has a big party life, think about mike vick and what he did to football and allen iverson to basketball the list goes on get over it
 
This thread is rediculous. People backing up tanner when it's obvious something was wrong with what he did. Why else would so many people care?

Then people completely turned around. He didn't just get drunk at some party. He got wasted in front of people who are his responsibility to be decent to. NOT at a party, but at a film awards gathering.

He can get shit-faced any other day, hell, he could wait a couple hours.

This isn't my problem, and in my oppinion, he just made a little mistake, but it is still a mistake, and even though it doesn't apply to me, still isn't a good, responsible thing. I bet everyone was somewhat drunk, but was this event supposed to be a royal mess? If so, why let little kids there? It doesn't really make sense...

Also, tanner probably is just like this when people put tons of pressure and expectations on him at public appearances.

I wouldn't think he's a jerk 24/7.

 
i don't think anyone was capable of not drinking at Club Soda. IF3 was a party. I mean NS was advertising in between movies as Club Soda/Newschoolers Awards "being the best face at this festival to stab your liver in the face"

 
Man that dude was so drunk, when i got out of his movie he started running around randomly and kicking air. He went for a pee in the streets then started to run randomly again. He then did a ninja kick and knocked his head on the pavement. (i got photos on my cell phone)Just imagine how drunk he was when he hopped on stage at the awards.
