I agree that he probably should have waited at least until he had introduced the movie to get drunk but honestly why the fuck does everybody think they have to give him shit for it? Let the man be, this is newschool skiing this isn't figure skating

It's not hard to have an intelligent debate, and take other peoples OPINIONS (key word) into consideration. You guys don't have to get all butt hurt when someone disagrees with you.
 
these threads make me sad. I've always liked Tanner, and he's always been nice to me, but I sure wish he'd be a better role model sometimes.
 
I'M gonna step up and say everyone can have bad moments, some people have issues with credit ards, some get's in fights, other try to stab peoples dick with skis while they areon stage... these guyz party HARD prolly too hard so they dont even know whta theyare doing anymore and prolly wont remeber anything the next day.

Tanner was WAY too drunk tonight at the premiere andmade a fool of himself. he is not the first one and not the last one.

anyway after watching believe i can say one thing: TANNER Hall dosnt sucks cocks.

He's crazy good at what he is doing and you can see that he have a totally different attitude when skiing. that's his job, skiing. some might say that talking with kids at premiere is too and it would be right. Still he's killing it on skis.

I totally agree that he totally lost it tonight and some people opinions on him changed. But remember when you are partying like a rockstar, you end up doing stupid stuff most of the time.

So, Tanner is one damn good skier, he just ned to stay away form a microphone after drinking.
 
He's a fucking pro athlete....people are going to look up to you...do you really want kids to think that it's sweet to be drunk in important situations? He is an image for the companies who sponsor him...how do you think that makes them feel? He is just doing it for attention...just like paris...just like lyndsey lohan...jst fucked up
 
I wish skiing represented itself better in general, and this is just a small example of what is wrong.

I respect Tanner a huge amount for what he has done and continues to do on skis. I won't lie, his skiing definitely influences mine.

Whether he likes it or not, public relations really is his job. When you are paid by a company to represent their brand, you need to be on point when you are doing your job. In a video, you can edit the stuff that is not helpful out, but in this case I think that his sponsors probably didn't get their money's worth because his representation of their brand on stage was probably not the one that they would want.

 
the part that made me laugh was at the afterparty when he was interrupting kid koala's performance with song requests or some shit. as if he thinks hes on the same level of fame as kid koala
 
PLEASE don't start on the "straight-edge fag-boy" bullshit. I think the main debate here is not about how (or if) the thread creator has fun, but about how high profile athletes represent our sport.

I don't believe tanner is a "classless idiot", and I believe he's been an enormous,mostly positive, influence in the sport. so while i might not care a whole lot about tanner's drunken rants, I am glad to see that someone cares enough about our sport to at least want to discuss how this might be negative.

About Tanner, sounds like he was stupid. Oh well, stuff like this is just going to screw over his long-term career in skiing. Gotta get good at PR if you want to milk it. Otherwise, once you are no longer the best on the planet, you are nobody. Gotta be good at PR like Jon.
 
Also, what does Seth's huge double front look like? Does Seth ski a lot in the movie? I'm tempted to buy it just for that.

after watching the if3, i had a dream that tanner helped me learn to do flips, so deep down i think he could be a good guy

Montreal does things to you. Tanner is a good guy folks. Just a little wasted. We ALL know what it's like to be caught up in the moment. I mean, the dude hasn't been to the East Coast in a few years, he's premiering his flick, he was with most of his friends he hasn't seen in years. Eh, he had a good time and I'm pretty sure could give a shit what you guys think about last night.

BTW, props for dropping off the second story onto the dance floor. Hilarious.

yea but im sure most pro skiers would be a little more responsible and considerate to the people that put it together and the coordinators. im sure no one else has ever put them selfs in such a stupid position.
 
Yeah i know i was there, i just though it was tanner's natural ganssta attitude untill i waited the end of the show and i went to him ask an autograph, he was drunk as shit unable to walk but i was suprised he almost took me in his arms and started chilling with me for 2 minutes and accepted to sign my autograph (completly unreadable)and ended up the discussion by a handshake and wishing me peace...i guess i was very lucky but yess he was so fuckin drunk.
 
I'm pretty sure Tanners long term career in skiing is set. You know that as soon as he's done winning contests, filming segments, and killing it on snow he'll have a full time job with Armada, Oakley, or any of his other sponsors. Isn't he already part owner of Armada? With that alone, and the money he's still on he's set for awhile.
 
the 2 pros i fully respected was Dumont and Carlson, they chilled out with everyone and went to speak to their fans and contrary to tanner they took the time to sit and sign posters. They got THE attitude everyone's looking for and its bad Tanner didnt took inspration to them that night... but i guess its a part of the game too, i didnt expect tanner to look like dumont and carlson because he knows hes not like them and he knows hes on the top of the sport so it doesnt bothers him to look drunk and being ganstaa like all the time he appears to public.
 
I think it's so lame how you guys treat our fellow skiers. All summer long there's threads about how much believe is going to suck, now everyone jumps on him cause he was drunk.

If that's how you want skiing to be, then cool. Sick movies like Believe will be shitted on. Our events won't ever have anything as horrible as a drunk man on the mic. Powder? Booze? What have we come to in skiing?

It's just so easy for all of you to say whatever you want about Tanner. I just don't get why all the hate. Obviously it really wasn't a great idea for him to get trashed. But it really shouldn't be a big deal.

I just ask that before everyone jumps down his throat, think for about two seconds. First, have you ever met Tanner?? I'm sure a lot of people here have and can tell you that he's a really nice guy. Secondly, don't you want to cut your fellow skier some slack?? He's one of us and he's done a lot for our sport, why the hate?
 
Yeah he a good skier but a complete jackass. i lost all respect for him a couple years ago when he made a public statement that he was a better skier than any world cup racer. i mean i like freestyle way better than racing but get real dude.. you're a tool
 
there were a lot of people who have huge influence in the ski industry at that event last night. You can be sure that the companies already know about tanners antics last night.

honestly, who doesnt like to get bombed? But you have to have some self-control and realize that if you are going to be in the public eye that you should at LEAST be sober enough to string a sentance together. Its not like Tanner didn't know he was going to have to be on stage last night. Thats unacceptable, and if I was one of his sponsors I would be pretty pissed. You would NEVER see a pro football, soccer, hockey or baseball player with that kind of behaviour at an awards show.

It makes skiing look bad.
 
Tanner isn't a classless idiot, its been stated in this thread before me. It wasn't a good idea to get on the mic and talk like an idiot in front of kids who look up to him. Despite what people say, kids look up to tanner, and will continue looking up to him. I couldn't get a ride to IF3, I almost went with my grandmother. How would you feel if you were watching the premiere with your grandmother and the "best" skier was up on the stage swearing and being a drunk? My grandmother would make fun of me and complain till I died. Point is, obviously skiers aren't amazing role models, I have nothing wrong with drinking or blazing. Pro skiers just dont need to let the public know that...
 
I dont know if classless idiot is the right phrase to call Tanner and his antics. I think it was a bad choose to show up shit faced. But it happens, we all have done it showed up to a date or somwhere fucked up and look like a moron. I do though agree that it doesnt make him a good role model. I am not a huge Tanner fan, I think he is kind of a tool. But that is beside the pont. Many of you posted that he is not a role model... well anyone in the sports community can be a role model to kids. Lets take baseball, as well all know baseball is a sport, yes there are rules in the sport and a governing body, yes freeskiing does not have a governing body it is more govern by sponsors. Baseball players are role models to many kids. I remember growing up and being like, ahh man Bo Jackson is so great, I want to be like him and play like him. Its the samething with Tanner and the rest of the pro skiers. Kids are looking up to this guys, and Saying, damn I want to kill it like Tanner does. Which in turn makes him a role model. When I got into sking Glen Plake was one of my role models, he seemed really chill and was killin it out there. I wanted to be him, I looked up to him.
