IF3 - TANNER HALL IS A CLASSLESS IDIOT

Agreed with the respecting him for not compromising and just being himself but when you elevate to the fame that Tanner has, he has to know that he is a role model for a ton of young skiers. I hope that kids look at tanner and say, "wow he does what he loves and stays true to himself" and try to emulate that attitude rather than say "I want to drink and curse and whatnot because tanner does" and aim for that but I don't think that is the case. Not hating on Tanner, I respect him a ton, but he does need to realize his influence over the young kids in the sport.

Do you remember? I'd be very curious to hear the answer to this, as well as the update on your T-Hall position.

I don't know if I'd call him an ultimate competitor... maybe ultimate champion, but it's easy to be a good winner. What's tough is being a good loser, or even a good close second. Tanner sucks at that. Guy's the biggest sore loser I think freeskiing has ever seen. And he puts up this fake ass Rasta-mellow facade, and then when things don't go his way (i.e. olympic team) he flips a bitch and goes ape shit. Kinda immature IMO.

I mean, he's sober, (last I heard), and he seems to be totally loving life and still kicking hard. Rising above isn't glorious, it's painstaking. Takes guts to do that, so I've got respect, no matter how annoyed I get when people post "REAL SKIING" quotes.

IF A FOOTBALL PLAYER DID THIS LITERALLY THE ENTIRE U.S. WOULD FLIP SHIT.

just saying. He is not just paid to ski. Like Tiger Woods losing endorsements after getting around.

I thought that was bullshit though. I mean the guy is a golf player... he doesn't have to be a good husband.

I'm really not sure. I was just a few days under age 15, and my misspelling of the word "agree" leads my to believe it was probably some dumb reason that didn't make sense.

As of now, I'm kind of impartial. I find myself chuckling at some of his comments. I guess sometimes I'm more of a fan than other times.

X-Games 2012 he was over an hour and a half late to his signing. After competing 30 seconds way. Just a piece of shit IMO.

Tanner is a great ambassador for the sport and has been nothing short of kind and genuine in all of my interactions with him....

#justiceforTanner

Was he nice and respectful the couple of times you met him? I can believe that, yes. I'm sure he's not an insane asshole 100% of the time.

But is he a terrible ambassador for the sport and an idiot at least 75% of the time? Yes.

'Ambassador' is the last word on the list when describing Tanner Hall.

Pioneer? Yes

Great skier? yes

Normal/respectful person? Fuck no.

And how no one can see that amazes me.

You either must be an 11 year old park rat that is so brainwashed by the degenerative scene that you've lost all common sense, or you are just a fucking moron. Either way, it's scary to see.

True true, just making that comparison.

Bill Clinton too... but he still seemed like a nice fellow. I'd still have a beer with him.

But would I be able to have a beer with Tanner, or would he call me a shit skier? That is the question.

THINK ABOUT IT THOUGH.

Baseball players get PAID to play a GAME. A. Fucking. Game.

Pro skiers get PAID to fucking SKI.

Why are they paid to participate in FUN? Not because of the prizes. MLB players aren't paid so that the person paying them gets the trophy. They're paid because people pay for tickets to watch them, and buy shit in their stores. Athletes = Entertainers.

So if people think a skier is an asshole, then they don't watch them, and choose to follow another skier (player). Usually regardless of his ability.

I'm all for getting drunk and acting like an idiot, but when there's kids around, whether these kids look up to me or whether they're total strangers, I make an effort to pull my shit together.

That's my main problem with this whole situation.

I can't stand people who make zero effort to pull their drunk shit together when there's little dudes running around / watching you.

It's fine if you're drunk, most of us were around drunk people when we were kids at one point or another, but watch your mouth when they come around.

Pro skiers are paid because they are being an ambassador for a brand(s). Above all else, professional skiers are a marketing tool. Once their usefulness as said marketing tool is gone, their career is basically over.

Because they are a marketing tool, how they behave off the hill is also important. When someone sees Tanner Hall being a complete asshole off the hill, that also reflects on Oakley, Armada, Dalbello, Rockstar, etc... Luckily for these brands, there are kids out there that hop on Tanner's dick regardless of how much of a complete trainwreck he's become. For the most part, public opinion plays a huge role and those who think pro skiers are simply paid to ski really have no idea about this industry.
