If you were to inhale something deadly, how long would it take you to die?

I think you overlooked the fact that there are multiple things you could inhale that are deadly, which means how long it takes to die is dependent on the substance you inhaled.

As a cellular poison, H2 S affects all organs, particularly the CNS and pulmonary system. The spectrum of illness depends on the concentration and duration of exposure, with high concentrations (>700 ppm or >975 mg/m3) causing sudden death possibly due to hydrogen sulfide effect on the brainstem respiratory center.

One good breath.

Chlorine will take few solid whiffs I believe. Has got to be concentrated, like a wastewater plant or water treatment plant

The deadliest thing to inhale is air. It takes 70-80 years to kill you on average, but it has a 100% fatality rate.

oxygen! good call!

The result of breathing elevated partial pressures of oxygen is hyperoxia, an excess of oxygen in body tissues. The body is affected in different ways depending on the type of exposure. Central nervous system toxicity is caused by short exposure to high partial pressures of oxygen at greater than atmospheric pressure. Pulmonary and ocular toxicity result from longer exposure to elevated oxygen levels at normal pressure. Symptoms may include disorientation, breathing problems, and vision changes such as myopia. Prolonged exposure to above-normal oxygen partial pressures, or shorter exposures to very high partial pressures, can cause oxidative damage to cell membranes, the collapse of the alveoli in the lungs, retinal detachment, and seizures. Oxygen toxicity is managed by reducing the exposure to elevated oxygen levels. Studies show that, in the long term, a robust recovery from most types of oxygen toxicity is possible.

if it weren't for anti oxidants, we'd corrode and die.

everything is harmful in excess

Here's something to think about.... if the air at everest and other high elevations is too thin and makes it harder to breathe, why doesn't the lowest point on earth (that's not underwater) make it hard to breathe because the air is too thick?

If you were to inhale SOMETHING deadly how long would it take you to die?

Um, there's a fuck ton of shit you can inhale and die. Everything from under a minute to 50 years.

uhhh i don't think that's why. it is hard to breathe on mount everest because there is very little oxygen in the air. you can breathe 100% oxygen just fine... it has nothing to do with air being "thick" or "thin". hope my meter isn't broken here...

I work with the Cl at the waterpark I'm at and I've taken some solid whiffs. Enough to make me puke and almost pass out. It fucking burns

It depends what you inhale, If you inhale noxious gases you can die immediately or soon after, if you inhale something more deadly, say for example a semi truck, you will die instantly nearly every time.
