I study to become a teacher, so far, i would not call your parents, but i supose writing a new one won't hurt, it's school after all!
 
Whether you're in high school or college or middle school or whatever, when your teacher says "Hey guys write on something your interested it! (blah blah blah)" don't do either of the following:

1) Write about drugs or alcohol

2) Write about something that doesn't have a lot of info backing it (aka SKIING)

There is no exception to the first one, the only exception to the second one is if the paper is an opinion paper and you can write about what skiing means to you or something to that effect.

 
I'm not I was just interested in the difference between the laws in Finland and where I live I was merely asking if in Finland those things fall under a teachers legal responsibility to report if they suspect it. Nothing about the OP

yeah, a kid in my human geography class is doing a project about the distribution of medical weed dispensaries around LA and all my teacher did was make a joke about what hes going to do after the mandatory site visit thats you have to do for the project

i think because your poem was so incredibly shitty coupled with the fact that it was about smoking weed, your teacher felt the moral obligation to report it and give you a wakeup call

teachers aren't shrinks. they have to report shit like that. maybe if you'd written a good poem about weed in society and didn't talk about personal experiences it'd be different...but that was just stupid and horrible
 
U of O. In their defence the song was Bobby Brown. If you listen to it you could see why some people might find it offensive if they didn't know it was a song. So might have been a poor choice on my end, but it's a catchy song and was stuck in my head. But I didn't do anything wrong, so nothing happened in the end except a bunch of threats that went nowhere.
 
Sorry for the double post but I just felt compelled to say that it's things like this poem that make me want to stop smoking so much weed all the damn time.

Sorry, I didn't realize you were from Finland.

In Canada (and I assume the States, but don't really know) there is a legal duty to report, particularly when dealing with minors. If harm comes to a minor and an adult (parent, guardian, teacher, counsellor, coach, etc) had information that could have prevented harm, that adult can be held legally responsible. This can be anything from suspecting a child is being abused, knowing alcohol will be served to minors at a party your child is going to, to suspecting a kid is using drugs and then he od's. If you don't report that crap, you could be screwed. As a teacher, I wouldn't want to leave anything to chance.

I mean obviously, it was a bad idea to do this, but the teacher was in the wrong to report him as this is by no means self harm. Also, who are you guys to say the way he's using an illegal substance is wrong? It's wrong no matter what, people use it for different reasons. I know the OP in real life and he's not one of those scumbag in your face stoners who posts statuses like "I'm so high man, gettin food brb." NS, don't be so quick to jump to conclusions that people are idiots, this kid has gone through way more than all you fags will go through the rest of your life, and that doesn't justify him smoking weed or writing this poem, but let me tell you, he uses marijuana as casually as you tards so don't act like he's a stoner loser.
 
well when i was in college one of my professors bought weed from one of my friends (a student of his) and drinking with some professors was like common practice.

but even in highschool getting reported for a poem (even one that shitty) about smoking weed is fucking weak, thinking back i dont think any of teachers would have ever reported a student for that. in fact, i specifically remember submitting a poem about anal sex titled "alaskan pipeline" my junior year, the teacher thought it was so funny that when it came time to make a book that was a collection of his students short stories and peotry and shit, he put that shit on the front page.

teachers are legally obligated to report anything that has to do with drugs/alcohol or violence that might be affecting any of their students... so yeah if i would lose my job for not reporting you i would
