If you use a GH-whatever, get this lens...

I'm probably spilling some beans here, but man, it's such a sweet deal and you guys have to jump on it if you shoot m4/3 cameras..

One of my favourite lenses that I've owned for my FD system has been the 35-105 f3.5 FD lens. It's relatively sharp through the range, affordable as hell, a bit weighty, but plenty useable. paired with my 50, it's the only other lens I take when I'm shooting my canon system, and it works pretty alright on 35mm.. a bit soft wide open out of the center, but it's a nice lens to take with me when shooting film on my FD setup.

This entire last week I've been shooting landscape video using a friend's GH3, along with this lens - that cost me a whole 40$ on ebay, I might add...

Simply put, it's basically like having a manual focus 70-210 f4 lens on a 5D/6D, but for 1/10th of the price of even an used 70-200 f4L, when adapted onto the GH2/3/4/whatever. it gets perhaps a LITTLE soft at the long end, but good god, everywhere else, even wide open, it's awesomely sharp enough for video purposes. It's parfocal, it's fixed aperture at f3.5 (which is plenty fast) and did I say it's CHEAP?

Seriously. Pick one of these up, guys..

Some of those late FD zooms are really good and cheap as fuck. I've got a mint 28-85 f4 that I snagged for $60 at a local camera store. The adapter I bought for it cost more than the lens. Perfect for run and gun video work with my a7s. Fuck autofocus 2.8 zooms. Can barely rent a 24-70 for one day for that price.

Is it the Tokina? That's actually a remarkably good lens.

f2.8 zooms are meh for videography.. I can afford SO many awesome primes for what it would cost for an overpriced zoom.

No, it's an actual Canon lens. This one:

Very plasticky, but at least it has a constant aperture and actual manual focus with hard stops.

I bought it after I took a gig shooting live music and realized there was no way I could pull it off with just primes. It paid for itself in one day.

Damn... why can't they just make constant f4 zooms like these anymore!

I'd love my 28-85 to be f4 constant and parafocal... would make so much more sense than an f2.8 for size weight and useability... not to mention, probably better image quality too since it's easier to make a slower lens be sharp as steel tipped tits on a dominatrix at the Folsom Street Fair...

a 28-85 f4 would be so much nicer than even a 24-105 because of the much decreased distortion potential... WHY CAN'T THIS BE A THING.
