what he has done for freeskiing?!?!?!? if it wasn't for his heli mute in the olympics, a hell of a lot of the people in this sport now would still be rockin race skis. he brought a small bit of skiing into everyone's TV set. after that, people began to realize skiing wasnt lame and that you could do cool shit. remember, the average person in skiing has never heard of JP Auclair. so seeing moseley's "new" trick was their first glimpse at skiing's revolution. he made the sport somewhat mainstream.

and for all of you saying he is a sell out - he won a flippin' gold medal. that's huge. he deserves to make a lot of money.

Moseley helped put skiing where it is today. You cannot deny that. He was in a lot of the early movies, and IS the reason I started jumping. I know a ton of other people who startyed because of him in 1998. He may be a tool, but he did a lot for the sport.

Yes, I realize he wasn't the first to do what he did, but he's the one that got exposure for it. He is also the one who got corks allowed in mogul compition, sponsered a few comps himself, and all that.

after you are world champion and you change the face of freestyle skiing, and you are in two olympics, and you are 28, you are (should be) allowed to gracefully transition into other things without being called a 'sell out'. the man loves skiing, give him a break.

 
Hell lay off the man. Even though Johnny may have shown the world the most horrendious video game ever, and went on mtv and "sold out"(which 99.999% of this site would have also) He still is the reason that I and many other people on this site got interested in freeskiing. He may have not progressed or whatever in a while, but he still deserves his dues for what he has done for the sport.

Come on. I'll admit... I was tired of skiing. I wasn't going to race. I wasn't going to do bumps. I was sick of just skiing down a hill, and stopped skiing for like 4 years... But when I saw johnny do the mute 3 in the olympics... I got stoked again started skiing again. Then about 2 years later I saw Jon ski... and it was all over. I was on twins and here I am.

I'm going to keep my own thread going by saying that Mosely rocks. So what if he doesn't compete anymore. Is Tony Hawk a sellout? Is Michael Jordan for making more money with Nike than he did in the NBA? He progressed the new school skiing style and there is no denying that

Bump i totally agree with you. Moseley is not a sell out at all. he is an awesome skiier and did very well when he competed. now he has chosen to stop competing and do other things like MTV. big deal. michael jordan retired ands still does hanes adds, is he a sell out? No he just takes advantage of his persona and his own marketability. Moseley would be an idiot not to do MTV. if anyone was in the same shoes and Johnny they would do the same thing
