The real problem was with the batteries only lasting like 18 months before barely working.

Some brothers launched this campaign against Apple by making a video and releasing it on the net, and by spray painting Apple posters around their city.

Apple has since fixed their battery problems...

yeah man anyone can get educational discounts, its so dumb they way they do it. anyone can claim they go to college, apple doesn't verify anything. also anyone who's considering trading their ipod in for 50 bucks should remember that its 50 bucks that can only be used in the apple store, but not on itunes music store.

also, you should try selling it first. i got 75 when i sold mine even though i said the battery didn't last long. just my .02

 
i don't think $50 apple credit is worth taking the time to read words and sentences. thats just to much work for me.

the funny thing about mine is the battery life has gotten better, it used to go only 6 hours and that past couple weeks it goes about 8 hours

i have an i pod, and a non-high speed USB port. Unfortuntally a ipod is a high speed hard drive. so after about acouple months it skipped every song i had on my ipod. I could not play anything and it was totally screwed because my laptop didnt have a high speed USB hub or a fire wire port. so if you have a slow speed USB ipods arent for you. Luckely this happened within my one year warranty. I lied to the Apple people and said that it was a crappy ipod and got a brand new one that has better battery life and hasnt had problems yet.
