If you know a lot about cars

this man is true. find yourself a cheap honda to hold you over. nice little 5 speed that'll get you like 30mpg and last forever. and it'll probably run you $2000, for a pretty one.

right now i'm gettin 16.8 mpg with my sierra 1500 4.8 v8, which is pretty good. my mom wants me to get something with either awd or 4x4 when i move to colorado.

in the bronco, i really like every year. the first generations are so dope. i'll probably look at the fifth generation though. white like oj!

i know. they are ugly! nice cars but the body makes me cringe.

omg! have you seen the new ford f-350 (f-250 - 650) fronts? they are disgusting! everytime i see one i gag. the 2007 one's are the best fronts.

Have you ever driven one? They are the best handling car on the planet in snow and slick, icy conditions. And not all of them are ugly, oh but nevermind...clearly the beautiful flowing lines of the Broncos bodywork are far better than any Subaru...my mistake.

it just depends on where you are from too. i live out in the country so i like big trucks. i feel comfortable in them. don't get me wrong, subaru makes a kick ass car, but it's not all about the mechanics for me. if someone were to give me good deal on a subaru i would take it in a flash.

i hope you are joking

early 90 civics are not very good tuner cars.

Sure, there are a lot of cheap performance parts for them and they're super-easy to work on.

But, unless you do an engine swap - the stock engine in the early 90 civics are really weak, even if you mod them.

if youre going to tune a car, dont waste money on a civic unless you swap the engine. Then you can have a nice little sleeper.

Personally, I would go with a 300zx, 3000GT VR4, Eclipse GSX, or a Subaru Impreza.

You think subarus are ugly? i certainly dont.

i would love to have a subaru WRX

hundais are not that nice but for the year and inteiror its ok. if it drives well and a mechanic you trust gives it the ok, do it.

that's exactly what i meant. the stock engines are like golf cart motors. that's the first thing you take out. my best friend swapped his for a rx7 motor.

it's a really nice car. i haven't seen it since he swapped it. that little turd never told me he did. i really don't know what he's pushing.

arem knows whats up. for far less money than that korean peice of crap, you could have a late 90's subaru legacy that makes the perfect ski car. look for a 97-99 legacy wagon with a m/t and the 2.2 litre engine. i have a 98gt with the 2.5 and the extra power is nice, but its not nearly as reliable of an engine. the 2.2 is on par with reliability wise with anything honda has ever made. my brother's 96 legacy has almost 200k on the original engine and the only work he's really done to it was a new O2 sensor. also, subarus are super easy to work on. every type of fluid you need to change is super easy to access. the AWD system is probably simpler than any other on the market, but for that reason, it works (very well) and really doesnt require maintenance. again, downside to the 2.5 with the ease of maintence - sparkplugs are are chore to replace. most subarus arent anything special to look at, unless you have the higher end models like the late 90's rs or gt, or a wrx or sti, but they all drive really well, have decent gas mileage, and are cheap for repairs.

wow thats a ricey car if i ever saw one. the wheels arent even the same color.

to the creator of this thread i havent heard good things about hyundai.

if speed is a #1 priority then go w/ a late 80's early 90's 5.0 mustang. im gonna get flamed for this coment but o well. they're about 215hp stock and you can get one in good condition for about 4-5k at most. put another couple hundred bucks into it to do intake and exhaust and u got somewhere around 240hp

for 8000 you could get something so much nicer than a hundai. a subaru 2.5rs or outback, an older bmw or audi, pretty much anything is better.

Yeahhh...I was gonna say...that is definitly not a rotary anything...

Thanks Justo...my brother has a 91 Legacy that has about 185k on it and it's still running like no ones business, handles ridiculously well on snow and winter roads...Subau is definitely the best ski car for the money.

Mustangs are way to common, I see about 10 every day. (not joking)

215hp stock isn't bad..

But, the Nissan 300zx (RWD) and Mitsubishi 3000GT (FWD) are both 222HP stock on the non-turbo models. Also, the Eclipse GSX is 210 HP stock and all-wheel drive.

The Nissan 300zx Twin Turbo model is 300HP (RWD), stock and the Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is 300-320HP stock and it is all-wheel drive.

Mod any of those and it will burn a 240HP 'stang off the line.

ok...i'll finally set this straight. i shouldn't have said anything before i actually questioned him and saw it for myself. he was talkin about his friends car. had me in circles. ok so...he has a VTEC-D15B in a 93 civic so that picture is correct.

That makes more sense...I was curious why he would swap in a Mazda Rotary engine from a RWD car...just seems like a real pain in the ass to go through when other swaps are so simple by comparison.

Kinda curious why he didn't go with a 1.6 liter model though, as opposed to the SOHC D15B...or if he really wanted to step it up, the H22A would've been the way to go, oh well though.

do not buy this car. i owned an 03 tib and it has the most electrical problems ever and i hear its the same for them all. basicly ever electrical component will eventaully break/ start going crazy. half the time i couldnt even get into my car. and sometimes not even out cus the locked would get stuck.

sorry for postwhorrage but do you actually have any engine work done to that besides buying the loudest exhaust you could find?

just sayin good bang for the buck car. i dont know too much about imports but the nissan and mitsu r probably gonna cost more. plus just as easily as moddin of of them u could put a few grand into a 5.0 block if you wanted, maybe an H/C/I swap and supercharger and get a ton of power.
