I haven't updated my aim in about 4 or 5 updates, so i have all i need wihtout all the extra bull shit add ins. All mine does is chat, and the only special feature there is is the eye, and the eye rules.

it jsut does google im, you need a gmail account and you talk to other people with a gamil account. if you look on the google website, there are instructions on how to talk to people on google talk with Gaim, its killer!!!

i guess you've never heard of aim ad hack then. it removed ads and that weatherbug/wildtangent spyware crap in the older versions of aim. and it's even more useful with the new triton builds because it removes ads, the aol toolbar, and aol explorer. broken? nah..

installing aim, then installing that, is more complicated then installing gaim. if all you use is AIM, then thats probably not a bad way to go though.

And the best thing about gaim/triallian over AIM is that you have other chat clients built in.

One question, the thing that I don't like about trillian is that it doesn't display peoples info very well. It doesn't show any links or any of the formatting very well. How does GAIM perform in that respect?

i dont know about personal profiles, but when you put the mouse over a contact, it desplayes some information. and as far as I can tell, it will show links and then you can just click on them and they open up in your browser.
