If you had the choice...

just a random thought i had this am, and i asked all of my friends just to see what they would say..hahaha!

dont get technical, just read the following scenario:

your on a plane that is about to crash. The passangers are a random 5 year old kid, and you, you being somewhere at the age of 25-40.

the question is, there is 1 parachute and only one of you can use it. so what do you do? give it to the kid and let them live their life and you die, or you take it and come back to the life you've known for so long and let the kid die?

kind of random i know, but it wud be interesting to see what everyone's answer is..

how long has the little fucker been crying? cuz the other guys probably gonna wanna off himself anyway and no one likes whiny kids.

Depends on if the kid's fat. Because if he's a normal 5 year old, he'll probably weigh around 60 lbs,and I could carry him in the straps or in my arms for a good 30 minutes before I'd be exhausted - more than enough time to land safely.
If he's a chunky 100lb motherfucker, that tubby bitch ain't gonna survive in the wild or swim to shore, so I'd take it for myself.

theres no way a five year old is going to be able to operate a parachute by himself and get to safety even if he somehow managed to land without dying. get real and i wont get technical.

That's not getting technical. That's a quick assessment of someone's weight. If I go "DAMN HE'S CHUNKY" I'm jumping out with middle fingers a-blazin'. If not, I save his/her life.

honestly?
i'll have to do whatever it takes to get that chute and get out alive...
even if it includes beating the crap out of a 5y old....

I know this sounds immoral, but I would take the parachute for myself.Like it was previously said, "I like living."

I'd grab the kid and hold on to him as we both jumped out together. The parachute would easily carry both of our weights.

yea i would just take the parachute aand grab onto him or strap him onto me to and hope that works

use the little kid as a landing cushion

save the parachute for another time when there is two people and only one parachute, because then there will be 2

The 5 year old wouldn't know how to work the chute and would die anyway, which means both you and the kid die.
I would take it for myself and hold onto the kid. If we land safely, that's chill. If i accidently drop him, well he had a better shot at living with me trying to save him than leaving him on the plane.

i mean this is just all hypathetical...like im just trying to see who would choose themselves over the kid...

remember you can choose yourself or the kid..not both!

also i no a kid wudnt no how to work a parachute but in this scenario it would know how!

Put a death lock on the kid, jump with parachute while hanging onto kid, we both live, international hero, live a rich life with all the money you'd get.

Bullshit.

In that situation, you would grab the parachute. Political theory and psychology all state that the thing humans fear most is their own extinction. That is the reason why we create states, have laws, go to work: to preserve ourselves.

To suggest that you would let a random little kid, who you've never met, live, and as a direct result, you die, is nonsense.

Sorry, /rant

A better question is this:

You're a doctor, with the resources to treat only one patient.

There are two patients. Once is an 18 yr old student who just crashed his car, after driving drunk. Another is a 70 year old woman.

They'll die if they don't get treatment.

Which one do you save?

it depends if the little shitter was kicking my seat or not.

if he was: fuck 'em

if he wasnt: he wanted to, but was afraid i'd fuck 'em. so fuck 'em.

I would put on the parachute and find something to tie the little fucker to me. If in some strange circumstance only one life could be saved I would probably save myself. I'm 17, I have a life ahead of me and all human actions are selfish at their core anyways. If I knew he had no chance I would probably knock him unconscious with something so he wouldn't have to be conscious as he died.

Just saying.

in soviet russia, pilot is content to die in firery crash to save the people $150 for a parachute

Since I am a doctor, I would not know anything about the people I am practicing medicine on, so I would pick the 18 year old. I would have no way of knowing whether the 18 year old was a crack dealing woman beater and the grandma had 6 grandkids that she loved and spoiled, but emergency doctors aren't supposed to previously know their patients so I would have no way to know if someone was more worthy of living or not.

thats what i was thinking. and it depends on the kid honestly, was a doucher during the flight, how about when we find out there is only 1 parachute does he bitch out and say he should have it? theres a lot of stuff that would change my mind but the most legitimate idea is just to hold him

Yup. This pretty much sums it up. However, if in this hypothetical situation we did know, I would save the 70 year old. I don't care how old or sick she was, I would never save someone who crashed driving drunk. Anyone who drives drunk deserves to die.

same feeling

but i think i would put on the pack jup out holding the kid. we both live then i shoot him if he was a bitch on the flight

1. Choice is an illusion.

2. Nobody would give the kid a parachute, if you did, you fail at life, literally. You'd all use the parachute for yourself and try and save the kid some other way.
