if you bought new skis for the season, and today is the first day that you will be using them, would you use them in the park? or would u ski with them and get your old skis for park?

NO WAY you could scratch the top sheet. But yes I would definatly use them the 1st day but maybe dull down the edges down a bit. yesterday it was the 1st day of the ski season and you could tell who got new skis when they tried broken grinds and the edges caught and their skis ripped off

yeah i would but only in the park cause it can be shitty conditions on the first day so all-mountain id use last years/older skis. but it depends if its the first day for you or the first day for the mountain. if its for you and the mountain is pretty well open then go for new skis.

yes. but after some groomer runs just to get used to the skis. i just rode my first day on 179s yesterday after having 159s and it takes some getting used to

I got my new board this summer and i road it in the park on opening day. I mean if their park skis or boards their gonna get thrashed anyway, so theirs no reason to put it off.

use your new skis right off the bat, especially if they are different in any way from your old ones and expecially if they are longer. if you hop on your old ones you'll get used to being back on em in no time and once you click into your new ones they will feel all wierd under your feet

ski them everywhere the first day so you know what to expect latter on. on the east skis are gonna get trashed pretty fast so why not ski them hard right off the bat?

no. have fun when you ski over a rock and rip out an edge of your brand new ski. I mean yea you gotta use em sometime, but wait til there's enough snow that you're not deliberately fucking your new shit up.

how was that dude?? cuz i also just made a 20 cm jump. wat was the biggest difference for u?rails? jumps? basically if u could just be a bit specific that would really helpful

Thats such a waste to get new skis and destroy them in the park, the first day. I mean, you should actually ski your skis while they are in a perfect condition. After they get fucked up a little bit then use them in the park.

This is true, unless of course, you bought pure park skis and you ski almost all park, and you live on the east where there isn't much else to ski.

But if your somewhere good, use your old skis in the park for now.

i jumped for 158 foils to 171 ar6s...i found no GREAT change, but definately a change, wasnt used to a longer tail, too. it also took just a little bit more effort to get the 270 on...and idk if its the new skis, but i drifted a lot more than normal to the left today doing 270 ons.

so ya i did use my skis today in park...i made this post and no one replied by the time i left to ski. so i was like fuck it sure why not. but spinning you could definately tell with longer skis if u wanted to know...and i dont have jumps at my mt yet. east cost.

thanks for the help. also...u said that u could tell that spinning was different. was it harder? or do you mean that you could just feel a difference? cuz i would think that spinning would feel a little slower

no it wasnt harder. i just could feel a difference... it took 1 or 2 tries to get used to. but no its not harder

if theyre park skis then go hit up the park

and its not like as soon as you hit a rail your skis are no good for anything else, ive been using the same pair of skis for everything the past 3 years, just throw em on the base grinder and wax em and theyre good

yes, but not if they were race skis, but I wouldn't have new race skis unless soemone gave them to me and it was super icy.

im going to ski the mountain the first day just to make sure I get fully used to the feel, if i feel comfortable enough on them earlier, i'll go into the park

i got a new pair specifically so i could have a park set and an all mt set. so no, my new ones wouldnt be used in the park first day. they might see a few jumps in their time, but for the most part ill use the old ones. weeeerrrd
