BigJ made a comment that those who do not work hard do not deserve a good life, and that more often than not, those who work hard can succeed.

Wouldn't it be nice if it were that easy. My mother is a Head Start teacher. To qualify for Head Start around here, families must earn $11,000 or less yearly. Also around here, studies have determined that the absolute minimum income to survive in this area is $22,000 or more per year. These are families that live in tiny, cramped trailers and cannot afford a telephone or health insurance or sometimes even food. And there are people that fall into this income bracket that work two jobs or more and still can barely earn enough to get by.

Let's see them try to pull themselves up by their bootstraps, shall we?

I mean, after all: America isn't about helping people; it's about the American Dream of succeeding and getting rich and being able to afford adequate private education for your children rather than send them to the cesspools they call public schools, right?

Well in short, the people who are proverty striken do get shit from the goverment but they dont get alot. There kids can get out of that cycle of birth into poverty by getting an education. School is free (well it gets taken out of taxes ect...) but there kids can go. They can get education and move on to higher learning schools. The problem is that most of the kids arent motaved to do that. Soon as they can they will be getting jobs and probly droping out. But there are ways for them to excapre poverty. There is also the army, alot of people who dont have alot of funds join the army, navy ect... becuse they will beabel to go to college.

dude if you want a country without any rules and government, goto iraq. they're not set up yet, you can expirience it in all of it's glory.

as for me, i'd like to keep the US 'alive'. i have so many freedoms and can do so many different things. there is a solution to any problem i run into life and always someone, somewhere who can help me out. with the proper fundings and common sense, america is a fantastic place to live.

sure i've gotten tickets and been caught doing shit i wasn't suppose to do. and what was the concequences? chip in a little cash to the community, get educated on the shit you are getting caught for, spend a little time cleanin up the streets. all in all, i'd say the government punishes us very positively. and i can't get too heated about getting caught breaking the laws, considering how far and few i get caught for.

Would that it were that easy. As I have said, I have an intimate knowledge of this issue. As I also pointed out, you must earn $11,000 or less yearly to qualify for Head Start. What about kids whose parents earn $12,400 a year? Many studies have shown that children from low-income families have a harder time learning than those coming from high-income, well-educated families. Yes, education may be free for the most part, but that's not the whole story.

I think that there are some people who work very hard and do succeed but I think that the majority of people who work very hard arent rich and a lot of them are poor. I also think that there are more rich people who dont work very hard than there are poor people who dont. There are of course exeptions to everything though. exept people who float cause thats just silly

listen man. i feel im speaking common sense. when i think of 'raising' kids, i realize that kids need clothes and eat foot and want to do things in their life. to do things you need money. i'm not about to bring some kid into a shitty life of not being able to pursue things due to a finacially problem. that's the choice those parents made when they looked at their income vs. having a child. they knew how much money they were making. you ca'nt blame the government because they're not helping any idiot who stuffs some girl. maybe it's jsut me that wants my offspring to live a fantastic life, and will not have them around if they're gonna be treated like a dog.
