GOD FUCKING DAMNIT I HATE WHEN people say that. not that i mind being criticized, it is simply an extremly stupid thing to say! I mean, first of all i am 17 years old, not quite old enough to ''leave''. second of all, i/any individual might not have enough money to ''leave''. third of all, i like the idea of america and beleve that america can be ''fixed'' (becuase it is currently broken). fourth of all, the whole idea of america (he part of america i like) is acception. the idea (in therory) is that America will accept your belefs no matter what. that is how America can change and grow to become more of ''what the people what''. therefore sayign someone should leave america becuase that person doesnt like how things are going in america is a fucking idiotic thing to say.

agreed. i definitely support the idea that people will stay in america because it is a democracy and they think they have the capacity to influence national elections and stuff. change is an ever-present hope for those of us who aren't fleeing to canada right now. however, when the elsections are rigged... well i won't get into it. there is hope.

What you lack is a TV with CNN. Turn it on some time and you will see war, death, hunger and death agian. Those are in other countreys not in the US. And i am also 17 and you know what? i can go out right now and make enugh money at Burger King in 10 weeks to move OUT of the US. Yea thats right as a 17 year old i can make enugh money to MOVE out of the US and start a life some where else. Hell you can go to Mexico, Iraq ect... and im sure in those places you will find the freedom you are looking for. Yea you can go to Canada or Britan but you think that there govment isnt as courpt as the US? I bet it is. So there are a few things you can do.

1. get the fuck out

2. lean to deal with it like the other 280 million or so people

3. become involved in poltics make money run for presdent and then try and change things

4. or keep bitching that you think you the complexties of the amercian goverment at the ripe old age of 17

^lighting of the christmas tree and the christmas tree in general is actually a pagan tradition. But that is besides the point. I think if I was a liberal living in the US right now, i would be frustrated and most likely complaining aswel. What is going on there is very disheartening. Although there is a level of corruption in every government, Canada does not have very much. We also have a good system for exposing the corruptiont to the people. For the guy would was taking about the puerto ricans. Who cares if they are happy to be of another culture. I think there is a problem with American assimilation. Every culture that is added to America should be celebrated. Living in Canada ,I agree it is frustrating when people actually dislike the country they immigrated to, but if you politely remind them of wh ythe left their old country, it is a better solution than getting pissed.

actually, i think it was Norway that is the best country to live in, followed by Australia, then Camada, then Netherlands Belgium, Iceland, and then it was the United States. Good try though, glad you have that a lot of pride in your country.

I admit that the index doesn't take everyone's personal criteria into account, but it uses criteria that affect the quality of life for everyone, no matter what. and if in a certain country these catagories are poorly adressed by the government, then the quality of life for the people in that country go down.

 
Because in America you have to work and not get handouts like free health insurance and such. Hence the american dream, work hard, get money, build a good life, and don't rely on the government for it. You make a good life for yourself here, you are not entitled to it.

Ok, fly to cambodia, with 120 dollars, american, and live for 15 years and tell me if you like it better. 120 dollars is the amount of money a upper middle class cambodian makes a year, i assume you are upper-middle class or upepr class, sicne you are conservative. It is much easier to obtain a higher standard of living in lets say austrailia than in egypt or iraq.

I know that, you don't need a study to prove that, but more times then not it does. Granted many slackers have hit it big off one good idea and plenty of people have worked hard and have little to show for it. But aside from the margins hard work will get you a better life, the American dream.

Also, what does cambodia have to do with anything, so they have a lower standard of living, ok. The also had Pol Pot, great, lets have a party.

Move to iceland if you really want to be out of the whole political scene. Im not telling people to leave, im just saying iceland is probably the most peaceful country in the world. I dont think they have an army, and there are hotsprings all over the place. Not sure about skiing though. You can fly to sweded if you want.

Iceisscary... even using those criteria, I seriously, seriously doubt the U.S. would come out on top overall. I mean, every time I meet an American in Canada and I ask what they think of the country, they always seem to start with 'Everybody's so NICE here!' Plus, thanks to a certain issue with obesity, I think we've got the hot girl %age of the population covered too... especially in Vancouver. Come here and see for yourself. As for ski resorts, there may be more down there, but the best one is an hour and a half away from me.

I was merely proving a point about different people are looking for different things in life and different things will make them happy, therefore affecting their opinion as to which country is the best for them. As far as I've ever been into Canada was Niagra falls :D. But I plan to hit up vancouver/whistler area sometime in the next year or so.

^Ah, I see. Yes, often people will make the mistake of thinking a higher standard of living will guarantee a happier life. The standard of living results are accurrate because there is a clear definition of the term 'standard of living', but 'best place to live' doesn't necessarily accord with that; you're right, it's subjective.
