If you could live in any country...

without reading any of the preceding posts or any succeeding ones, I can make this prediction with an uncomfortable degree of accuracy: most of you will put a country you've never been to or know so little about it, that your own declaration of citizenship preference for that country can only betray your own stupidity.
All you naive little pricks who have no idea how good you have it in our own country are going to obviously grow up and contribute very little to your country, only expecting your country to contribute to you in a way that defies the law of conservation of energy and mass.
Read a book and educate yourself. In the mean time:
- The USA has the world's highest GDP at 14.2 trillion. Second place is Japan with 4.9 trillion.-California is the world's 8th largest economy in the world.-Texas is the 13th-New York is the 14th-Florida is 20th-The USA has the 4th highest per capita GDP-Our Dollar is the World Reserve Currency-The USA has the lowest rate of foreign invasion/occupation of any country in the last 100 years.-The USA military spending is larger than the rest of G20 combined-Qatar, Luxemburg, Trinidad, Antilles, Aruba, UAE, China etc all have much higher per capita CO2 emissions than the United States-If you want a debate on systems of government, I will give you a rigorous one (especially you JD). For now, take my word for it that the United States has the best system of government thus far.-The USA has invented literally everything that makes the modern world operate. Here are some examples:
-Electricity-Alternating Current-Incandescent lamp (modern light bulb)-the assembly line-mechanized warfare-the machine gun (gattling gun)-automatic weapons-the airplane-pneumatic tires-radar-lasers-silicone computer chip-nuclear reactor-nuclear weapons-solar energy-the internet-LAN lines-the two-way radio-lunar exploration-deep sea exploration-the stock market-the NYSE-facebook-google-youtube-twitter-cellular telephone-mp3's-compact disc-DVD-magnetic tape-LCD-LED-CRT-Black president
You can't live 1 day without using at least 20 principal inventions invented by the United States

I just don't see why the next generation, the generation the future of the state is contingent upon, is not proud to be American. We just PUBLICALLY elected a black president for fuck's sake! How could you not recognize our leadership role in the global stage? We are a titan among rodents!
Now, I'm not trying to be offensive to any other countries but lets face the objective fact here: Our country is vastly superior to yours, in almost every way, and in the facets of statehood where your country surpasses ours, we have a multitude of other facets that outweigh the single victory you hold. Thats just pure objection. No one can contest that fact. Now you can call me out for saying that, but the only reason you don't want to hear it is because you are jealous. I would like one other reason why you would not like me to declare this simple truth.
It is sheer stupidity to be so short sighted as to let the relatively brief tenure of one administration to undermine your entire sense of patriotism, especially to a country that has done so much to advance humanity and society and global politics.
Now I'm not saying we're perfect or we've reached our destination yet. But it is undeniable that we have advanced society in a positive manner from a position distantly behind to the point we are at now, to the status quo. Moreover, it is undeniable that we represent the pinnacle in progressiveness to a moderate and controlled degree. We are the most liberal state on the planet and yet we do not recklessly dive towards the left. We liberalize where appropriate and reinforce where appropriate.
In short, you might find flaws in our country, but you will be guaranteed to find more in other countries.

the u.s. we have everything: huge mountains, the great lakes, two oceans, tropical climates, good colleges, the best media, and big cities. we pretty much have everything that you can find in any other country all in one. but i will probably stay in the northeast because we have the biggest cities and they are all real close to each other and there is always something to do.

if i had to live somewhere else, it would probably be canada, but their cities are small and it always cold.

I agree with most of what you said, and myself stated earlier in the thread that I would live in the US (Seattle), but I don't think anybody is really bashing the US in this thread. There are also a few other factors in determining quality of life aspects and what people find enjoyable. Sure people have probably not been to a few of the countries listed, but it is just a hypothetical. Some of these countries sound nice to some people. I'm very proud to be a US citizen, but there are other places in the world besides here that are also wonderful to reside in.

Based on the places I have been, and talking to people who have seen a lot of the world, the NW of the US, more specifically Western WA, is one of the best places in the world.
The only 2 places that do not suck in comparison (weather / terrain) are the South African parks, Cape Town area and New Zealand, the south african government sucks balls, and NZ is down wind of Australia, which leaves western WA as the winner.

It's a good thing you made it with an uncomfortable degree of accuracy.

The only thing that was predictable about this thread was that some little boy the ol USA, would come on here and say exactly what you just said.

The irony being, that in oh, say 20 years, your former country or at least that of your heritage (and excuse me if I'm being presumptuous,) is going to quash your little falsities and delusions. Some would argue another 8 or 10. It also has nowhere near the per capita emissions that the U.S does, which you so claim. In fact, its totals are only slightly more than yours; divided by about 4 times the population.

Furthermore, the countries you quoted there are either ahead of you, because a) the large amount of deforestation they have had, b) they are mostly desert and thus have no carbon sinks, c) are small island countries that have no choice but to fly. Luxembourg is perhaps the only country on your little list that you might have a case for and really means anything. Maybe that's why it's also.... better?

And since you seem to know about the law of conservation of energy and mass, you can perhaps explain why 5% of a world's population uses 25% of it's energy. That equation doesn't overly balance itself. You'd think that as being superior, you'd have found a way to counter this by now. Or, is gulping up the world's resources un-sustainability and mindlessly, the only way you got and are

"there," to begin with?

I'd say you're right about your system of government. Yours actually has you believing that it is the best, and for that it should be commended. Or... your ignorance.

I thank you for those many many inventions. You invented them all. Everything. No one else has actually invented anything, at all. Not a thing. Not one invention. I mean, you even invented a man. I didn't even know you could "invent" a man, let alone make him president. You even invented inventing things. Even invented inventing inventions. The rest of the world actually uninvented things, that is how inferior it is. Luckily we had you there to invent uninventing things, or we couldn't of even done that. Oh, I just invented a new word!

Saying stupid things gets you stupid responses.

For making such bold and albeit, false statements, I would hope that you have at least been to some other countries. And I don't mean while holding mommy and daddy's hand hiding behind a veil of security. If not, do it, and do it with this same attitude. Good luck.

In short, I believe I've found at least one flaw in your country: If indeed a man can so be, then you just invented it!

The fact that people are still saying "OMG, WE ELECTED A BLACK PRESIDENT!!!" Shows that no matter what people say, racism isn't over.

After living in Germany on the German, Austrian and Swiss border for a year I would definitely pick Austria over the other two. The people are nicer (all three can be pretty uptight, but Austrians seem the most relaxed of the three), it's the cheapest (I suppose it's pretty close to Germany, but Switzerland is bloody expensive) and of course there are the Alps that include resorts such as St. Anton. It's also next door to Switzerland if you want to hit up the mountains there.

I mentioned the U.S., Canada, Austria, and maybe CH.
Of course none of them are perfect countries, there are flaws with every single place, and maddening aspects of society and government, but I have lived abroad, I've visited 50+ countries on six continents, and the U.S. still comes out on top for me. Hopefully people living in the States can continue to pursue "a more perfect Union".

Well, uh, yeah, if you hadn't noticed this webiste is pretty international at the moment and people from elsewhere than the US read these posts too. Way to make your country seem like it's full of arrogant pricks like you, huh? No one in this thread pointed out that US was "bad" in anyway not full of innovative people, they just answered what country would be good to live in. My American friends (from Colorado and California) both think US sucks dick when in comparison to, say, Finland. It's all about personal preference and how countries are governed, not this freakish act of patriotism you promote. Things are also good elsewhere so take a chill pill or go rant somewhere else.

But yeah, obvious troll is obvious.

-Electricity
^pretty sure electricity existed before americans.

-mechanized warfare-the machine gun (gattling gun)-automatic weapons-nuclear weapons-facebook-google-youtube-twitter-Black president
I'm also a little sad that you included these things as being great american advances. Especially the last one. Africa has been electing black presidents for ages and you don't see them having a hay day that they got a new one. He's black, we get it. He was elected because of his person, not because of his skin.

On a side note. I have been to switzerland, ive got one issue with it. All men have to go into the army for a year at 18 or 19 (i think its 19). That is the only problem I have. Their culture and heritage is incredibly rich. Their country is absolutely beautiful. Their slums are comprised of 16 year old boys that ran away from home and hang out with each other with out killing each other on a regular basis. They are encouraged to have meals at home with lower priced groceries and higher priced restaurants. You can drink as late as you like. If you want to go to the beach you go to Niece, France. The skiing is amazing. Anywhere you go there are at least 3 languages being spoken which is really neat. Racism and prejudice is far less existent than here. My muslim cab driver only spoke English and German and my Chinese waiter only spoke french. People have a lot stronger focus on enjoying life there than they do here.
I'm not saying that the US is a bad place, but not all of us prefer the same things as you do. I live in CA. I absolutely love it. But there is enough I do not love that makes me willing to move somewhere else if I could. And I find it sad that any one person wouldn't want to experience life a little more and live at least one other place in their life for a year or two that takes them a bit out of their comfort zone. It's how you learn and grow as a person and become more capable of grasping world views.

No, I just don't think any sensible American needs to go around Parading that we have a black president and its exciting because he is black.
More appropriate is we elected a minority to president. That is exciting to a degree, but his minority status is not the basis of his qualification and therefor does not need to be glamorized.
He fits into far more subcultures than any of our prior presidents and therefor relates to more americans on a more personal level.
Half black, half white, lived abroad, lived in a non wealthy environment, lived in a wealthy environment, lived in a city, raised by 2 parents, raised by single parent, raised in a middle ground religion.

someones jealous. you realize that you just tried to argue about the least important point he made. the amount of emissions doens't make one country better than another. emissions have nothing to do with quality of life (unless there is a ridiculous amount). also, bitching about the list of inventions doesn't help your case at all because you didnt make a single valid point, except that the u.s. invented a lot of stuff. and in your future posts, you should not use the word "it" so many times. no one has any idea what you were trying talking about.

in no particular order

Iceland, Sweden, Switzerland, Italy, Canada, New Zealand, Japan(not for life)

i'm not even going to read what you wrote because of the first 2 paragraphs of youre post. if you want people to listen, give them some respect.

I think you meant standard of living. IT doesnt' matter that you don't understand the difference though. And are you arguing about how my argument was pointless? That would probably make yours even more pointless, wouldn't IT. Besides, he seemd to think IT was an important enough issue to bring up. Not to mention that it was fallacious.

You invented bitching so I will just take your word for IT, that you know what I was doing in my post. Perhaps you don't fully understand because you haven't invented sarcasm yet.

And if you are having problems with the English language, perhaps IT's time you refreshed. You did, after all, invent IT.

I am not even going to read anybody else's answer to this thread, or anybodies response to your post.

you made such a good point that i do not even have to write my response, but i am going to anyways

Am i saying that we are superior to any other country?

yes i am. I am proud to be an American. I am proud I live in such a free country (all the recent arguments aside). Im proud that our previous generations died to make our country so great.

aside from the political atmosphere, life is pretty good here.

you can go into any grocery store, gas station, super mart and get fresh bread, milk or even fucking bananas any day of the week. do you know how unbelievably accurate our system has to be to be able to provide those food services to everybody?

we have every kind of extreme sport imaginable.

you can travel anywhere you want in the country without being murdered or attacked (for the most part)

our alley ways are in better shape than most of the worlds highways.

people bitch about war when, in only the last 50 years has the world moved away from constant war.

we have the best healthcare system in the world

our taxes are relatively low compared to our benefits we receive

We drive ourselves to succeed and we do not settle for anything less than excellence

i could go on and on and on about how great our country is. and please do not tell me how great other countries are and do not tell me how evil america is when everybody is trying to get into this country, nobody is trying to get out.

We reward hard work. this is the land of opportunity, sometimes people just forget that.

life is like playing the piano. it depends on how good you play it to receive the maximum reward possible. just be happy you live in a country that lets you reap the rewards of your labor.

of course that is just my perspective and my lifes situations rolled into one thought. everybody is entitled to their own opinions, after all, its a free country.

My god you're dumb.

A) Benjamin Franklin is considered the forefather of electricity. While it didn't necessarily "originate" in America, it was researched extensively in the US. And electricity used in things such as lights is a very new thing. Please don't get all technical about the history and how the battery was invented, I'm just saying that the US had a huge part in electricity.

B) Black president thing. Just wow about your comment. It's a big deal for most Americans that a black man was elected president. While Obama may not be the only black person in power in the world, it's symbolic of breaking the color barrier. The fact that he got elected because of his person and not his skin is the important part. America has been racist in its past. Segregation was not too long ago and there still is racism in parts of the US. Ideally Obama's skin color wouldn't matter to anyone, but it does.

C) The men that have to go into the army in Switzerland don't fight like the US does. Remember, Switzerland is neutral. I don't know that much about Switzerland so what I wrote for this is mainly speculation based on what I do know. One of my mom's good friends lives in Switzerland and has a young boy and I don't think she's worried about the military thing. I think it's like the Swiss National Guard or something, and they don't actually fight.

Now, I'm not the kind of guy that goes around parading for America all the time. I think that the post you quoted was pretty dumb as well.

For countries I'd like to live in most I'd say (in no particular order)

USA, Canada, Switzerland, Sweden, New Zealand, France.

USA, has it's flaws but seriously where else can you get some of the best skiing and surfing within a 4 hour drive. Australia would be pretty sweet too.
