in response to aggro_sk8, i too was very shocked by the events of september 11th. but supporting bush will only ensure that similar events WILL take place again. i was just as shocked when i realized acts of terrorism are committed every single day by americans abroad. please don't just dismiss these statements, people have to begin to realize the implications that american policy has on the middle east, specifically in regards to how we (i say we, even being canadian) handle 'terrorist' actions by other political groups.

 
sweetcoz has one the most broad views i've seen in a long time. Thank god someone isn't buying into this 'war against terrorism' thing. Does anyone realistically we can eliminate EVERY terrorist in the world? To support sweetcoz we need to start at home instead of sticking our noses into affairs that have been happening thousands of years before our country was even founded. If we were to attack Iraq and put in a 'western style' government, what makes you so sure it would work. This is a culture that has had a dictatorship for thousands of years. Has it ever dawned on America that maybe they don't want it? And don't give me that crap about 'oh he kills his own people and is a horrible person.' We did the EXACT same thing with the native americans. Genocide was commited right here on US soil. Russia is no better, especially as of late.

yeah. I'll probably sign it tomorrow, but as much as I think the Iraq issue had to be dealt with. It's so ironic how there is so much blame being placed to terrorist when America as a nation is a source of terror. We're accusing them of so much (which may or may not be happening, but for arguments sake lets say that they do have nukes) yet american legislation is causing thousands of deaths every year in Iraq. who's the terrorist? Iraq wants to fightback. So what's america supposed to do? they need to make it an issue. but i think as soon as this isuue comes to a close the only way to solve the problem is to release all of the grip that America has on Iraq. Northamerica doesn't have contempt for Germany anymore, we can only hope that the government will do this and they'll stop hating us.

The Chechens stood up to Russia when they wanted independence, and in fact won independence for a short time, until Putin took a power trip and invaded. The Chechens are an ethnic group fighting for autonomy, not terrorists; but they're regulated into that role by the media and by our governments.

WHY ARE THEY 'TERRORISTS?' BECAUSE THEY ARE FIGHTING AGAINST A WORLD POWER. Yes, boys and girls, the old adage is true... Might is right. It doesn't matter who you are; if you are stronger, than you are right. Fight against Russia, and you're a terrorist. Fight against U.S. globalization, and you're a terrorist.

Osama bin laden killed 3000+ americans on 9/11. No one can argue that. We need to do something about terrorism, but is war with Iraq the right answer? The money involved is absolutely huge. Adn the fact is, will Iraq really be better off if we come in and try to annihilate Saddamn Hussein? what will he do to his people, the ones he kills now, if he knows that he will be killed? Instead of weapons of mass destruction used on us, will he use them on his own people? And who would rise up and start leading these people? This's the same situation as Iran a few decades past. We go in, take out a dictator who doesnt' like us, and then place one in power who does. Then, the people hate us and when the good dictator dies and one who hates america rises up in his place, the whole problem starts all over. Saddam kills Iraqi's every day. but that does NOT mean that the civilians think of Americans as angels come to rescue them. they despise us as they probably despise Saddam. Really, i can't find a solution to fit in this problem. A war is going to be devastating to many, and if we only kill Saddam his sons are much worse, and if we leave him to be we've got a madman with no leash. Eveyrone's biased, but no one has a perfect solution, no matter how you roll the dice.
