If Mt.Hood Erupted right now

COC and Momentum would make more money. though St. Helens is more active...in reality the mountain would be evacuated, so the probability of losing skiers is unlikely, the summer scene would become more exclusive relying on whistler and the southern hemisphere (probably increasing in europe as well), and pollard would have to find new stepdowns.

It could be a good thing if a lava flow made a steep bowl or something, that seems unlikely though. I had fun at hood but it seemed like the flattest mountain ever, but it was summer and it had better park than my hill in the winter so it is still awesome.

if hood erupted i would move out of portland. and hoods not the only place to ski over the summer there is also momentum and coc and you could go to the southern hemisphere

a bunch of skiers would be outrunning the lava that is pouring down the mountain and then theyd hit the grassy area and there would be a mass dub eject massacre with lava

anyways.... the mountain would warm and the snow would melt before it erupted

then i wouldn't have fun the last week of july, i would probably just sit around and play xbox and wish i could ski

When I was there there a few years back there was some activity going on, it was like spitting out rocks or sulfur or something, not entirely sure but the evacuated the mountain for 2 days.

Sorry, have to say this statement couldnt be farther from the truth. The mountain just doesn't warm. The top near very hot vents and such would lose snow, but the rest of the mountain would still have snow. Theres a reason there was tons of flooding and mudslides when mt st helens erupted in may. And theres a reason why a good bit of forest and other plants and stuff were preserved from the eruption(in exception to where the huge landslide and pyroclastic flow occured)...there was tons of snow on the mountain when it erupted. If it had happened in august, the eruption would have been much worse.

as for hood, I dont think people need to worry. Mt baker was starting to get active in the 70s. That's prob more of a concern than hood. Rainer and yellowstone too.

Normally I try to avoid hating on others, but ummm settle down with your wikipedia/geology 101 there, this isnt a serious thread~

no wikipedia there. Just basic knowledge. I just hated the stupid comments of "all the snow will melt cause the mountain is hot"

thad be helarious, i can just see some crazy skier flying down the slope with lava like 10ft behind them, still hittin jumps and rails

tom wallisch enthusiasts would mourn extensively and probably try to get a holiday in his honor.

haha i've got molten ankles!!! AHHHH

i really want to put a dub over a scene in the movie "volcano" right about now.. LMAO.

haha i like how everyone is crackin jokes about t-halls ankle incident and the grassy parts of the mountain haha ive never skied the mountain so i wouldnt rly care at all

if hood was gonna erupt, id drive down to portland or something with some chairs, tons of food and drink, and enjoy the show

lots of other skiing options. but if a bowl was created, it could be beneficial (although unlikely). Look at St. Helens, I think it has the only growing glacier in NA.
