Everyone seems to agree that if you own a PC, Adobe Premier is the program to use when video editing...and if you own a Mac, it's Final Cut.

I know those are the two best rated video editing programs for their respective platforms....but between the two, which is better.

The next computer I get is going to be geared 100% for video editing and possibly 3D animation; between a PC (adobe premier) and a Mac (Final Cut) which tends to be better for this aspect?

I would especially like to hear from those who have used both. Do you find one better than the other? Why?

I've read reviews in different computer magazines and websites, but none of what I've found compairs the PC to a Mac....they all just compair PC programs to themselves, and Mac Programs to themselves.

Anyway, just looking for user opinions....and yes I've done a forum search and haven't found the info I've been looking for.

Final cut is decidedly better then premier...So if you want a 100% video editing machine then i guess a mac is better. But if you want 3D animation and want to use programs like maya or brice3d then you are going to need a PC platform.

go with the pc, you can actually upgrade it

If you have a 1380 SAT and a 86.71 GPA... what does everyone say? Not good job, not 'O wow, thats awesome!' No, they say things like 'You are an underachiever'

yeah you're right, you can't throw a larger hard drive, more ram or a new video card in a mac.

you sir are a fucking retard. dont talk out of your ass.

definetly mac, ive used both. i havent used final cut pro but everyone says its better and rins alor faster. and as far as 3d goes every 3D program except 3Dsmax is on mac. for 3d go with lightwave or maya, i think lightwave is better out of the 2 but its up to u. there tons more 3d programs but those are the only 2 ive tried. im buying lightwave for my mac when version 8 comes out

I really am not a big Mac fan but I like Final Cut Pro a lot more. It's so easy to use. In general, Mac's are a lot better for kind of video editing and entertainment purposes.

Final Cut, hands down.

untrue, heres the scoop

get the mac...Final Cut Pro is hands down better then Premier. Plus with a mac, u can have Premier as well on the computer. You get both programs under one platform (pc will NEVER see FCP like the pope will never see pussy)

3d rendering, Maya is hands down the best program. Maya also comes under the Mac platform. As well ad 3dmax, and Maxon4d.

trust me, macs are more reliable, better build (my g5 case has insane construction inside and out, pictures dont do it justice), and has all the programs you want

dual processors, 8 gig max ram, wonderful design, all the programs, professional proven skills. Get the mac

Well, it's mainly going to be for video editing. My bro just got a real power house PC and I can install the copy of lightwave I have on that computer. I haven't really gotten into the 3D stuff yet, but will soon.

So yeah, this would be primarily for video editing.

nipe..and all other Mac users...

The only problem is, I don't have the money for a G5 at the moment. (although I wasn't planning on making a purchase for a while anyway.)

That being said, I am a Mac virgin. I've never owned one, and (other than the various iMac email stations around campus) I've never really used one. Are they difficult to upgrade? Is it possible to bring files from my PC to the Mac? What kind of support is there for 'tech-intelegent' first time Mac users? ect...

I mean, I know nothing about Mac's. I know a lot about PC maintenance and upkeep, but nothing regarding Mac. Do they go obcelete(sp?) as quickly as PC's?

Thanks for the info so far, I really appreciate it.

They push for people to use macs for video producion but I dont think it really matters. I think you can multi-task so much better on a pc compared to a Mac. I goto the art instuiute chicago and they teach us both and i think it just comes down to with whatever one you like better...You can upgrade macs just fine...the parts are fucking spendy as fuck though....and macs can read PC files....I would get a PC though ...if you are going to be doing 3d modeling and 3d design shit I think PCs are way better for that
