BUilt a terrain park in the Mazama mountains of washington near winthrop and it was sick but it was only a terrain park with huge kickers rails everything you could think of 1

who would help me build it 2

would anyone help me with finances (buying land, buying lift etc..) 3

would anyone pay for a ticket? if not would you help keep it maintained? finally 4

do you think if it was good enough it would bring pros from all over

tell me what you think I get a assload of money from the government when I turn 18 and want to do something really great with it and mazama gets snow and sun almost year round in certain spots

OK fuckwad, thats been tried... and you know what came of it? Blackcomb. It was called early winters in the first plannign stages and it was going to be out in the Methow area. it was going to be a destination resort with all of the great stuff that goes with one and with all that pimp ass north cascade powder that those heli ski bastards have monopolized... and by bastards i mean geniuses whose asses i would gladly kiss. so what happened to early winters you ask? well, who the hell wants to go to winthrop? not many people. who already went to whistler? lots of people.... => blackcomb. do the research ya cocksmoker.

3 Feb 1977

Editor Mae Darwood announces a new policy: 'Because of the frequency of Letters-to-the-Editor concerning a possible major destination ski resort in the area, the Methow Valley News will no longer accept such letters either pro or con, unless an individual letter contains facts not previously brought out.'

3 Apr 1980

The Methow Ski Touring Association is formed to promote cross-country skiing.

22 Jan 1983

The Methow Valley Citizens Council (MVCC) organizes to oppose the Sandy Butte ski area.

Feb 1983

Mazama Neighbors is founded to support the Sandy Butte ski area.

16 Aug 1984

The Final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) released by the U.S. Forest Service approves 8,200 skiers for a downhill ski resort at Sandy Butte.

31 Dec 1987

The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals reverses the Early Winters decision, saying the Forest Service EIS didn't adequately address several issues, including wildlife, air quality in the Pasayten Wilderness, and alternate-site analysis.

1 May 1989

The U.S. Supreme Court reverses the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals decision on Early Winters, remanding the case to the lower court, accepting parts of the original EIS, but ordering the Forest Service to discuss mitigation measures. Both sides claim to be 'satisfied' with the mixed decision.

14 Aug 1992

The Early Winters property, 1,700 acres at the base of Sandy Butte, is sold at a public foreclosure auction to R.D. Merrill for $830,000.

12 Jan 1995

Plans for a downhill ski resort in the Methow Valley are officially abandoned.

7 Dec 1999

R.D. Merrill Co. announces that they are withdrawing plans for Arrowleaf, citing delays by the Department of Ecology regarding water rights. Proposals for the development project, the latest incarnation of the Sandy Butte/Early Winters ski area, have spanned almost 30 years, been the subject of numerous lawsuits and cost tens of millions of dollars.

29 Dec 2000

Arrowleaf sells 1,100 acres to the Trust for Public Land for more than $15 million, ending the prospects for commercial development of the land once destined for a downhill ski resort.

^but you on the other hand are a genius..... mazama is like 15 miles north of winthrop, its where the freestone in and high north heliskiing are... the gas statino there has a rock climbing wall, its pretty cool. and winthrop is a piece of shit 'theme' town all wild west style, pretty gay and redneck in my experience

i seriously have no clue what you crazy fools are talking about, but yeah your going to need many millions just to fight the law suits agaisnt the crazy treehuggers, flatening the land to make a park, where one trail could cost 6 million just to blow up all the rock and remove it, you need a ski lift, lodge and snow cats... good luck

150,000 won't pay for what you have in mind - you might be able to create a park for that much but sustain it for more than a month and you're probly out of money

are you kidding? there is no way you could get anything crazy with 125,000. Lifts are millions of dollars, Cats are easly $500,000. The dirt work would take millions IF you can get it approved (not very likely).

ok, first off, it would be really hard to do, and would take years to get off the ground. i dont think may people would come if u had tows, that means, it isnt very big and wont be big enough to make good jumps with little speed, or you would have to hang on for a long ass time, which isnt fun at all. 150,000 isnt enough. mybe with big ass loans and sponsors out the wazoo, but it would still be hard. if u did this you would be ion the hole for so long, it wouldnt be worth it for you. and you would soon realize, that the majority of the skiers out there are not freeskiers, and that is not where the money is. you would soon enough become a not park oriented ski hill.
