If I ski a lot of park, do I want to get my skis resharpened?

I am going to be skiing the same skis that I use last season. At the end of last season, I forgot to take my skis to the shop and get them tuned up. This has caused some minor rust and also means that the edges are a bit dull. I need to get the edges deburred and derusted but not sure if I should get them sharpened at all. I ski mostly park and would still leave the underfoot detuned. Should I get everything else except the underfoot sharpened or just the derust and deburr?

If it’s just some light surface rust it will come off first time you ski them, could always clean edges up with a gummy stone

I wouldn’t bother tuning your edges if you ski lots of rails. You should also detune underfoot but you could consider sharpening the other parts if you ski super icy conditions.

Depends on where and how you ride. Living out west and riding almost exclusively flat or rockered skis I detune and debur but never bother sharpening my edges. If you have to ride some east coast ice in order to get to the park or you're super into carving hardpack on groomer days, nice edges will help. Also as others have said detuning underfoot and at your tip and tail contact points is pretty crucial for not getting snagged on rails and butters, respectively.

Rust will come off when you ride or with a quick pass of Scotch Brite or steel wool. If it really bugs you keep a towel in your car to give them a quick wipe down at the end of the day.

if you ski lots of big jumps, a sharper edge might help, but i wouldn't say it makes that big of a difference. the surface rust will come off first run

Honestly never found sharp edges needed even for big jump. since you need a good amount of speed for bigger jumps anyways the speed helps duller edges dig in more
