Identifying other Newschoolers

I find it ironic that a thread was started to find a way to bring NSrs together and is now causing more hate.

Seriously? if you guys were skiing the same mountain as me, I wouldn't answer the call out. that would be a great way to fuck up my day of skiing.
 
sounds like a sweet idea, i like the chads gap one, makes sense seen as everyone on newschoolers has seen it.

How do you get to chads gap? With a reply of any of the bigger jokes would be acceptable, like Ski patrol blew it up or mfm will beat your ass.

Wow! Not only has my modest suggestion resulted an epic thread on each NS and TGR, we now have Mr. Bishop posting in the the Teton Gravity forums.

This is very good, I think, in that it has fostered discussion between the groups - even if some of it has gotten a little heated. Regardless, this ultimately strengthens each of our respective underground skiing communities - and that is a win in itself.

senseless shit-talking going on here. Stowebum - Man I'm stoked you're

Regardless, I'm stoked on this dipping into a bit of cross polination.

Hell if I was out at some big scary mountain, I would more than love to

be shown around by one of the Maggots. Likewise, if you ever have the

desire to dip your toes in playing around in the park hit me up.

There's a ton we can learn from each other. Each board has its own

flavour, as each board is tailored to a different person. Here we deal

with more cut-throat shit talking and sophisticated humour, but on NS

there's more teenage stuff.

Counterpoints is something that the world of skiing is missing right

now. We used to have Freeze magazine to represent the angry 15 year

old, freeskier to represent the beer-drinking chick-banging 25 year

old, and powder to represent the... well... powder loving guy who could

be any age.

Now, the world of ski media is changing... things are moving online as

print dies its slow death. I consider it the greatest thing in the

world that there are two vibrant communities out there which we can all

be a part of.

I'd like to see a TGR vs. NS video contest... would anyone be down for

setting that up? We could have various rounds, and pick representatives

from the site to compete. Here's how I'd see it:

Round #1 - Lines.

Round #2 - BC Booters

Round #3 - Cliffs

Round #4 - Rails

The contest could be hosted on a neutral site (or on a page thats like

50/50) and we all can enter. Each round is scored and the top 3 of each

contest count towards the overall scoring scheme.

Don't hate on the TGR guys for being old. Trust me one day you'll be old too, and some kid will be like "You're old man" and you'll say "Do you still have to ask mom to go away for the weekend?"

Just leave that issue be... hell I'm almost 30 but its not like I'm not into what we do over here. Age has nothing to do with it... just bash people for having a stupid fucking attitude. :)

 
what happened to just skiing. the park is on the mountain and the pow is on the mountain, ski it all.

what i have found is generally park skiers are more open to all types of freeskiing. they don't vocally go around bashing pow skiing, even though they may not have a chance to do it.

Pow skiers tend to be more vocal about their distaste for park skiing. I see where they come from, they see people who spend a lot of time on the mountain but have not figured out how to properly ski yet. This gets old though, I realize you don't ski park, who cares if you like it or not, no need to hate.

Do it all, be a better skier, learn some tricks and get some style. park skiers are way more aware of themselves physically and have a much more intimate control of their equipment. Pow skiers are much stronger skiers and are way crazier in the fact that they send it on unperfected gnarly lines that they havent been able to stroll though to check out. Learn from both do both. Both are skiing for fucks sake, and we are all skiers.

I build parks for a job and ride while i am working, but ski pow whenever it is there on my lunches and days off. what ever is good should be skied. if you are geographically challenged, ski what you can and don't try and prove anything to anyone.

I like pow better, until i get too much of it and then feel like park, and then it gets warm and park skiing is good and i start to pine for pow. If i can't do both in a season it doesn't feel complete.

ps. 40 year olds should not have thousands of posts on an internet forum. don't you have a family or something? sure use it as a resource but doesnt it seem a little strange when you are a mature adult that "rules" an internet forum.
 
sorry i forgot to say. hate on tgr because it is tgr and not because they ski pow. NS is a way better site, no doubt about it. Fuck they aren't even a real website, its just a forum on a movie site. LAME
 
we could just yell:

and see who replies with anything witty. because non-ns'ers wouldnt know what to think.
 
come on, you're perpetuating the problem. have you ever been there, or posted in their community? What does it being on TGR's site have to do with anything? you don't even have a reason why you're against them.
