Hey guys, I currently work at a restraunt bussing tables and I'm complely sick of it and entirely sick of how my boss treats his employees...so I'm job hunting before I can give bussing the boot.

I already did a year at a supermarket for rule that out.

I want something relatively chill, after school hours, and decent pay.(expecting a pay cut of some sort because the restaraunt could come up big for me) Plus a little flexible schedule with a hectic senior year. I also want to stay out of the food industry for a little.

I'm thinking retail of some sort....but theres gotta be something else too

Can you guys brainstorm any cool side jobs for a 17 year old highschool senior? An independent place would be way cooler too, because cooporate chains kind of blow. What are some cool jobs?!

just throwing this out there.... maybe a movie theatre? They only get busy in the evening and I would assume they wouldn't be too strict or anything...

well now taylor im pretty mcuh in your exact situation, but definitely do not work at the movie theater. rain call is the worst thing ever invented and the hours arent that convenient.

im not sure about where you live but my city has got a parks and recreation division. in the winter they are in desperate need of people to salt sidewalks and neighbourhood paths. they pay like $17.50 an hour.

If you have an industrial park where you live and you have a means of transportation. nthey are almost always looking for people there, but youd work weekends 12 hrs a day. not the best if you want to ski. For school man, you cant beat the resturant industry, the hours are prime, and there is usually enough people working at a resturant you can get days off pretty easy.

I'm still there, but no more than two shifts a week.

And no to the movie theater....hear baddd things. I need hours in the evening. I need my nights.

theres a job offering at an aluminum processing plant in my area looking for one "active, hard-working, and motivated high school junior or senior" that im looking into. the letter said pays very well, and im going to call them tomorrow to check it out. 20 hrs a week so it isnt that bad either. right now im going about 35 hrs a week at burger king and the pay is minimum wage so yeah im looking for a better job.

work at best buy. You get sweet deals on your tech stuff, it pays rather well and the hours are relativly flexable

im a lifeguard/swimming teacher and i dont hesitate to say i love my job. especially the teaching part it can be pretty fun. time just flies off the clock

I think you might be right...or for at least the one near here.

Anddd...Best Buy does random drug testing of employess...among other reasons I don't like that ideology.

life guard,

ski instruct,

although you said away from chains, if you pick a chain go with somesort of electronics.. i work at rc superstore-electronics and its great.

i worked at a mobile climbing rock place this summer and i got to go to x-games in la, it was legit. got shaun whites john handcock if that means anything, but for sure small buisness rules

If you are willing to be a salesman type of guy, you can make SO MUCH MONEY working at a place like Nordstrom's where you sell expensive stuff on commission. My friend (granted, he IS gay) made 11 bucks an hour plus literally at least a hundred in commission every day he worked.

Do park crew with us at gore. Since their park is a joke, there will be like no work. you get paid like 9 an hour and for 8 hours a day if your there all day. I have to go up for a meeting Sunday so if your interested tell me and I'll get you some info.

its people like you that let the park go to shit fucktard

and it rapes your time actually skiing while you drive all teh way there

theres a job at brendisis downtown doing dishes and shit making 8$ hr and in the summer you make 10$ an hr. i know you said something about stayin away from food but im juts throwin it out there

dude, that is seriously a bitch job, lowest possible job out there. and fuck most boring job ever

get a job working for the government. since youre not working for a profit there is less drive to do stuff, and most of thier jobs are pretty easy. i would reccommend the parks dept. i work there, and its almost always super easy especially on days with bad weather when youd be doing nothing anyways. if you dont like that, try working for a bike/ski shop or at your mountain. otherwise, work at a nice hotel/resort as a maid, cause they get to keep everything they find. i knew a guy who worked as a maid, and didnt have to buy groceries all winter.

keep in mind he is rediculously good looking and has a god-like phsyic and could outdrink john belushi.

yeah but itis easy and i got to work with friends so i guess 10$ and hr is good for that and your aloud to smoke in there and they make you free food

ski instructor... i get 20/hour, plus a free lift ticket, and i only work till noon... unfortunately it's only once a week, but still, pretty much the best job ever.... that doesn't start till january, so i'm in your situation till then.

work at the deli so you can give me free food. or espo's and become a hippy with sam... and get me free food there too.
